Barrio redneck tries to offending , but back fires.

And now for some darn good news for the hood.

The barrio leaders have announced que there will be a free for all fights this coming Saturday for those wanting to kick so butt. It’s something that they want to try out before the real frustration starts, one of the barrio leaders told us, it’s like pre game review, so instead of fighting and getting mad around Christmas eve or Christmas day come on down this weekend an get it off your chest. He tells us he can’t wait till new years’ day!

 

It seems that every year there are incidents that involve dogs, cats, and a holiday dinner. Well last night for some reason the entire Perez family went outside to see how beautiful the Christmas lights looked at night time and left the back door a bit open. That was more than enough for the dogs and cats next door to start dinner early. By the time the family came back inside the house the freeloaders had already started with desert. The constable was called over and told them que he would put an all-out warning in the hood for a lookout for them dogs and cats with a smile on their face.

 

Yesterday the leader of let me put the finger on you Ruff Redneck Russell thought he had the upper hand when tried to offend a group of internationals folks from all over by racing pigs at his farm. Less that nine days for Christmas and the barrio Westinghouse mall has announced que everything and anything is on sale. Regardless, if it’s still in the wrapper or just sitting there, or regardless if its news or old or even stolen come on by and spend some money here. Barrio paper food stamps are accepted. The only deals they lose are the ones they don’t know about!

The barrio community center has announced que they will do their own version of the Nut Cracker play come this December 24. It’s an old Christmas barrio story not told very far from our barrio. And it really is a heart warming story about this man a “cracker” busted for stealing presents and giving them to those in need. BARRIO NUT CRACKER COMING SOON.

Yesterday the first barrio protest was held at the corner of Third and Wells Street. The protest really had nothing to do with the national trend going on but it did demonstrate that no barrio anywhere can be safe, neither from its own resident or our own constable Cadena. “Out of the car and hands in the air” was the slogan for yesterday’s protest where three 80 year old men were arrested and taken down for jay walking. The constable tells us que his new deputy Juan Barn Fife Hinojosa fresh from barrio police school should have known better. But instead malicious treated them and used shameful acts and statements against these men and really no call for it. Charges are pending on the three older men.

Ok raza you better not cry, you better no smile because Sancho clause is coming sooner than later.

Barrio Christmas sales down.

Two arrested for stealing plants.

And now for some honest darn good news.

What happened to our creator, he tells us que God saved him last week. Bless his heart but can we take him serious?AMEN.

 

For some having beautiful plants is just prefect, but for others they just don’t have that green thumb. That is the case con la family Debeefheart, Sonny and Soony  were arrested yesterday evening around 6pm when someone spotted a plant that looked like the one that was stolen a few weeks ago at a plant sale being held at the corner of third and wells. After a few folks glazed at some of the plants many noticed que they sure looked like the ones they had and had been stolen. El constable cadena arrested both men. Now if you think any of the plants that are being sold looks like yours, you need to bring proof. But for the mean time el constable tells us que you can get some darn good deals.

Local mechanizes are bit worried now that gas prices are down, reason is that now they have enough gas to go out of town or across the tracks to do their Christmas shopping say David Salinas owner of three penny stores. We have noticed a drop on sales and are a bit concern. We just wish the prices of gas go up asap, in order to save Christmas.

Kingsville,tx. Como estan I am urbano yosabatodo con this week’s barrio stock market report for this Friday. Sometime in the next few days I will have my end of the year economic report for all you big time small time spenders. But for now let’s get right to that award winning report:

Las  tamales, well don’t say I didn’t tell you. As indicated in other barrio site the increase of making homemade tamales has increase by at least 18 percent ( based the number of people in our block vs. the number that make their own tamales)now that increase do expect the tamales to go up everywhere you go. Las tamales ended the week at a all time high of $6.50 to $8.00 a dozen.

Las tortillas, well this market has its ups and downs but this week it ended pretty stable, tortillas both flour and corn. Flour small pack of 12 @1.52 and corn small pack of 12@1.35 .

Cheap beer, this market has just taken an decrease, six pack ended the week @$2.99 a six pack.

Las empanadas, that special holiday treat, which is an all around treat now a day’s end pretty stable at $.69 each. Or a not so fresh pack at those quick stops on the freeway for about$2.00 a pack of 4.

La barbacoa de cabeza going for about $6.50 lb. an big increase , llama not available this week.

 Los taquitios ended the week at $1.39 each and coffee is extra.

After reading over a few thousand comments about god’s blessing on facebook it has been determine que Jesus is that close in returning and one can use their eyes and their brains to at least make an educated guess. "look up and lift up your heads, for your redemption draws near," and "when you see them happen the kingdom of God is near" (Luke 21:28,31). Jesus and Paul both taught that the proper way to wait for His return is to therefore be as it is. AMEN.

What could happen to a nice man, a pastor, and a Sunday school teacher? Well it seems that a lot of things could happen. Late last night el constable was called to the corner of wells and third street where a group of people had el senor Modesto Morris Cody Hernandez pinned down on the front yard after he had been seen propped up a ladder under a couple’s bedroom window to watch them having sex. When asked by the constable what he was doing, he said que he was doing research for his facebook page blessing people from doing naughty things. By the way the church he was preaching had no comments this morning. Let me hear a amen.

Yesterday el Clown DeLaPaz was told by el constable cadena que he had been given a warning that he needs to stop tell jokes to strangers especially Blonds. It seems que every time he saw a person he would stop them and tell them jokes that weren’t sexual but made lots of folks uncomfortable. El constable also told him que next time there is a complaint about he, he is going to be laughing all the way to jail.

Kingsville, Texas. Hello again I am Blanca Blanch Blanco con on the road again interview. This week I ride into the sunset south to La Feria, Texas to meet with Furty Villarreal accordion musician del valley. Now for that interview:

BBB: hello Sir can you give me a hand off this bicycle?

Fv: Sure! Let me help you get off! Watch out!

 

BBB: tell a little bit about yourself sir and your musical back ground and how long have you been con los Mavericks?

Fv: Ok! I started playing at the age of twelve! Playing with my padrino Ruben Vela! In 1986 I formed my own conjunto Fruty Villarreal y Los Mavericks! I recorded my first album in 1986. It was pure instrumental!

 

BBB: was the accordion the first instrument you leader how to play?

Fv: My first instrument was the bajo sexto. I dud play accordion but not as good. I just got tired of all the tuning and broken strings and went full force on the accordion after that.

 

 

BBB: is there still one performance that still stands out in your memories of all the time you performed?

Fv: I have alot of great memories! But the one that stands out the most is when I performed st the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC! It was nice to explain our music and roots! To this date So Homenaje a Las Leyendas is played as a tribute to everyone that visits

 

BBB: wow sir that must have been an honor, do you thing the younger generation of today is really appreciating all the work you and many more have done to restore la onda  tejana throughout its history?

Fv: In my opinion I think that Tejano and Conjunto Music are like cousins! They both have evolved into a much more progressive era without losing its flavor! The songs still talk about a love gone wrong, our poor upbringing and hardworking people with a danceable beat. The only thing I see that we are losing is the traditional vals, redovas and shotizes.

 

BBB:  very good point, do you find the different places you perform are the same or are there differences ?

Fv: I think that the venues are different in that our conjunto music is not played in many radio stations. The Mexican Banda and hard core corridos have filtered so much audiences and territories! I am very fond of California, Washington and of course Texas for still promoting and keeping conjunto alive.

 

 

BBB: how difficult has it been for you and your family with your long career as a musician traveling all the time?

Fv: I think just being in the music industry is hard for everyone. The fact that modernization and technology has taken a big role in our business, Back then it was 8 tracks and cassettes. It was harder back then to go tour and not knowing if you were going to make money to send back home. It's never been good turnouts at our functions. The good thing about us in the conjunto genre is that we get the traditional quinceneras, anniversaries and private parties which helps us provide food on our tables.

BBB: and the fame behind all this sir?

Fv: well, it’s because I didn't get into music for the fame or accolades. Music was and is in our blood. There wasn't too many tv shows or award functions. We shared the road and stages with other conjuntos and bands that our only goal was to survive.

 

BBB: what is on the back burner for Fruty Villarreal  in 2015?

Fv: We are working on a tribute to conjunto legend Gilberto Perez who is one of a few still alive and performing. I consider him the George Jones of conjunto music due to his voz triste and tearjerkers! And of course another one featuring the old school conjunto.

 

 

BBB: sir if you were given an opportunity to speak to a group of young people wanting to get into the music business what encouraging words would you tell them about it?

Fv:

I've been invited to talk to kids and youth about our music and experiences. I always tell them to be proud of our culture and music roots. But then again it also comes with a heavy luggage. There is a lot of drinking and desveladas. I've seen very good friends with awsome talent that have gotten the worst part of this trade. All I can tell them is to learn it and enjoy our conjunto music and if they want to consider taking it as a career to just respect yourself and play from the heart.

 

BBB: that is sad in many cases,  what do you want for Christmas?

Fv: Lol. Honestly, I just want to make it through the remaining of 2014!

 

 

BBB: and finally sir is there anything you would want to share with your fan base?

Fv: Ok. Well I just want to thank everyone that has put up with me and my band. I feel very honored to have played a role in their lives by performing in their events and social gatherings. To you all the DJ’ s who without you we couldn't get inside so many homes and places. In our 31 years of performing we have met very wonderful people and I can honestly say that I didn't make conjunto, conjunto music made me and continues to do so. I am very grateful for the support that you all offered me and The Mavericks! Thanks

Tamale makers go on strike.

Barrio loses court appeal for handicap bathrooms.

And now so darn good news.

We were informed today que there will be a petition to allow taverns and nite clubs and bars and liquor stores to remain open during new year’s eve till 4 am. The barrio leaders told us que it’s looking good.

The final decision was posted on the wall outside the barrio community center where there was a court hearing to see if all the business in both sides of town were going to have to replace all bathroom toilets for handicaps and short people. Earlier this year, a barrio justice of the peace, had determine que all handicap toilets were to talk for most handicaps and short person. The complaint was que they were too tall to sit on and not many could make contact with the floor when using the toilet. The overturn of this ruling where business will not be required to replace them with shorter toilets will save lots of money for those businesses identify of having toilet just too tall. Appeal will be submit soon.

Yesterday the only tamale makers from across the tracks employees went on strike. The leader of the group Ben Carson, a worker for over  two years told us que they had enough from this company and was willing to go to court about how unsafe the tamales in can are and made. He told us que the making of tamales over there, that’s across the tracks, is nothing close to the way tamales are made over here in the hood. He also stated que he knows que all ten employees walked out this morning in protest on how expensive there were and the quality of them tamales. He and his followers will continue to protest until the owners, the Jacksons are willing to listen to their demands. But the way Tamales in can ended the week at $6.50, can full of ten tamales.
