Bbb: hello Mallorie, can you give me a handoff my bicycle, it
was a long ride here downtown?
M: sure no problem. How was the trip? BBB: well it was like this,,lol, let us first start con who is Mallorie? M: I am 24yrs old. Originally from Hebbronville, TX but i call San Antonio my home now. I sing all sorts of genres but write music for English/Spanish POP, Tejano, and now working into Country. BBB: why do you make sure that everyone knows that you are an American recording artist? M: Well I believe through my music and being in the public I can help people in need. I am a big advocate for Childhood Cancer so i feel if I have attention from the business I can spread more awareness and get more people to help fund and make a difference in these kids lives BBB: wow great job,I noticed that a the age of 13, you released your English album titled “Dream”, can tell us what did we learn from that experience that lead you to releasing a Spanish album titled “Mi Anillo”? M: I actually started writing at the age of 13 and had about 5 underground albums but didn't debut till 2009 and released DREAMS in 2010. I worked a whole year on the album and put my heart and soul into it. After it was released I decided I wanted to tour Texas, thus the DREAMS TOUR had begun. I came up with the choreography for the dances, practiced with the dancers, shows and in the middle of all that I decided I would try and come out with a Spanish album. My grandfather use to write songs for his brother who is in the Tejano business so I wanted to follow in his foot steps. BBB: how many cd or single have you released lately and have you been nominated for any music awards? M: I recently released a single titled "Ilusion". It's a up beat cumbia with a salsa kinda feel to it. I was also nominated for BEST NEW FEMALE ARTIST at the Tejano music Awards. Even though I didn't win it was still a great honor to be nominated. BBB: coming from a musical family background, how has that helped you with that LGBT community and Texas in general? M: Well I believe I have a bit of an advantage over others only because I started performing when I was really young. I can't say my families background made it easy because it’s not easy for me at all. I'm constantly trying to re-invent myself with each song, each album, and each time I perform, but the LGBT community has been really supportive and surprisingly so has the rest of Texas and even other states, which goes to show you music can bring us together. BBB: great answer, I was listening to one of your song “lLusi’on”which I am not sure if that is the name of that cd, but listening to it, it hada kind of Latina, pop sound, can you tell us how it came about, and by the wayit sounded great? M: Thank you. It is a single until I release my Tejano album (Next year). I am definitely not your typical Tejano singer so i try to use that to my advantage. I wanted the cumbia rhythm but still not the same ole same ole that everyone is use to. It was a bit risky but I love taking chances. The song has made a good name for me in the Tejano industry. People are definitely impressed by the vocals and my dancing skills. BBB: you are a bit different from many of the other Tejano artist we have interview, do you believe in vampires? M: Haha yeah I def. get that alot but I like being different. but um.....no I don't believe in vampires. BBB; gee sorry about that question, are there personal things, such are your style and appearance, that might hamper your musical career (lgbt)? M: Well I really try not to bring my personal life into my career unless someone asks about it. But I mean one look at me and you kinda get the sense that I'm "different". It isn't easy being the first openly gay tejano singer in a business that doesn't like change to much. But I'm willing to take on the challenge and I hope that more people will be open to my music. Not me, but my music. BBB: great job girl,if given the chance to speak to a group of young people wanting to get into the music what encouraging words would you tell them? M: You're going to hear a lot of NOs (Trust me I know), but eventually you will get that YES. Stay positive, focused, and driven. Remember that something worth anything is not given its earned. If you are anything like me you'll do fine in the business just NEVER GIVE UP!!! BBB: is there a Tejano release coming out soon, or do you try a stray away from that style? M: Um...I am actually in the process of creating my second English CD, my first Tejano album, and my first Country Single. 2013 is definitely going to be a busy year for me. BBB: please let us know so we can do a exclusive on those new releases, and finally what would you like to share with your fans from around the world? M: Thank you! I really can't express how blessed I am to have such awesome fans (LUV$). Most of you guys have supported me since i debuted in 2009, and have been through hell and back with me. Because of you I am forever grateful and will continue to work very hard to make you proud!! I love you all!!! BBB: will girl it’s been a great afternoon and I want to make sure que you do understand que it was a pleasure conducting this interview and now can you give me a big hand up this bicycle so i can head back to kingsville,tx.? M: I sure can!!!! \(^_^)/ Have a safe trip and becareful. BBB: our on the road interview have taken us to many locations and interview a lot of artist, I just to thank Mallorie for the great time, I am Blanca blanch Blanco, good day. |
