Exclusive
interview con Rolando Garcia manager del grupo ESKALA,2012.
Ccwhnn.
Somewhere
in Mercedes, Texas. Hi again, I am Santa Cecilia la que te canta con on the
road again interview.. today our bicycle ride takes us south to Mercedes,Texas
to meet up con Rolando Garcia manager of upcoming Tejano band grupo ESKALA. Now
for that interview.
Sc:
como esta Rolando, can you give me a hand off this bicycle it was a long ride
here?
Rg: Sure....I will help you off your bike maam!
Sc:
tell us about the grupo ESKALA ?
Rg: Eskala is a special tejano band that you and
others will soon see how great a connection the members have with the fans.
Eskala members like to socialize before and after with our fans because they
are the ones who make us in this industry and because of the fans, we are here
having this interview and recognition.
SC: sir
do you manage any other bands?
Rg; I do not
manage any other bands.
SC: I
notice on one of the Tejano charts que the new single de ESKALA “ o’ Gran Dios”
number 12, ( an old laura canalas recording) can tell us a little bit about
this release?
Rg; O Grand Dios is a masterpiece that was recorded
by the original Reyna De La Onda Tejana, and she can never be imitated nor
duplicated. This is a song that so many people in different generations have
loved and you dont often here these golden hits as often as we would like.
Eskala took up on the song and and made some personal modifications that would
just give it a different sound with my lovely wives beautiful voice!!!(3 point
shot...scoring points con la wife!!!).
Sc: that’s the way to do, as a manager of a band
how difficult is it to keep a band together?
Rg: The hardest part of being a manager for a band
is keeping them together. There are times when I have to make decisions that
are not so easy nor fun when it comes to having to move forward and making
changes along the way with new members. I just ask the good Lord help me make
the right choices for everyone's sake.
SC: how
much traveling does the band do during the year?
Rg: We have been traveling just enough to keep us
busy at this point all over the RGV.
SC: Mr.
Garcia how long have you been in the music business and in your opinion is la
onda tejana really dying?
Rg; I have
been in the music business for over 20 years, and I can tell you that la onda
tejana is not dying at all! The problem is that main stream media has not moved
on as much as they should off into discovering and playing new tejano artists
materials such as ESkala! Artists that have already made a name for themselves
need to take fresh new talent under thier wing and pass the torch, just like La
Mafia discovered Los Palominos, L. Palominos should now pay it forward and help
new artists be discovered.
SC:
what is in the future for ESKALA?
RG; hoping to release a new cd soon.
SC; are
there time sir that you wish you would never gotten into the music business?
Rg:not really, since I have most of my family
involved it makes it more exciting.
Sc: if
a group of young people came up to you and asked you what were some of the
important things a person needs to know before they become mangers of a band what
would you tell them?
Rg: I would
tell them to follow their dreams.
Sc:
when it comes to el grupo ESKALA, I noticed that they have been nominated for a
Tejano globe award under best online popularity section, what can you tell us
about that?
Rg; oh
yes we have been working real hard and glad to get some acknowledgment
SC: is
it really difficult to have a group with female singers, than men vocalist?
Rg: Its not a challenge for me having to have 2
female vocalists in the band, primarily because Silvia is my wife and Mari is
my sister n law.
Sc: and
finally what would you like to tell the fan base of ESKALA around the world?
Rg; Thank
you Eskala fans from the bottom of our hearts for accepting our music and for your
support. We are here because of you and nothing else!
Sc;
well it’s getting late and i am sure glad you gave us the time to do this
interview and now can you give a hand back on this bicycle?
Rg; I sure will pretty lady!!!
SC: as
I leave dusty south texas its always refreshing known que la onda is alive and
well. Have a great day, I am santa Cecilia la que te canta, con on the road
again interviews.. good day.
