Hello again I am Blanca Blancha Blanco here in Austin, preparing to interview Julian the contact person for LOS TEXAS WRANGLERS. So all due respect let’s get to that interview.
BBB: I want to thank you Julian for giving some time to conduct this interview. Oh by the way, I hope you realize sir I walked here to do this?
Julian: Well Blanca, may I call you Blanca?... Here, put your patas here I'll massage'em till you feel better.
BBB: gee thanks J. I really needed that, a little bit to the right,now how long has LTW been working as a band?
Julian: October was our 10th year together. But, some of us have been together since 1987 while playing with "El Mero Leon De La Sierra" Alfonso Ramos
BBB: I am sure you have heard this before but your bands name sounds more like a tejano country and western band?
Julian: Blanca, what part of LOS didn't you understand. Nahhh, just kidding, your right. I entered this project with more of a business venture while keeping the integrity of the Conjunto/Tejano roots. En otras palabras I wanted los gringos y morenos to take interest in Tejano music too! So, this was my hook and so far it's paid off.
BBB: I notice that you are from Austin and not sure if I read it right but were you guys selected as the best band in Austin?
Julian: Si, yes, yah. We've been very fortunate to have received several awards for Best Latin Traditional band from the SXSW and Austin Music Awards. We've also received recognition as "Conjunto of the Year" by the Texas United Latino Artists and also one from Waco. We were also inducted into the South Texas Conjunto Association's "Hall of Fame". Just to mention of few current ones.
BBB: dealing with band members, I noticed that you have a couple of females in your band Nikki and Joyce, how hard is it to work with women performers?
Julian: Actually not hard at all. It's been a great ride having these talented young ladies with us. Joyce added more depth to our repetoire and Nikki added the spark that keeps us all motivated and wanting us all to explore and widen the song selections. Its also great that they take the music and their show serious. Plus, no boyfriends or husbands wow! How great is that?
BBB: how often do you guys tour the country and what are some of the differences you see in your audience compared to the Austin fans ?
Julian: Its funny you ask that. We'll be going overseas this summer. But, there are two big factors in most Tejano bands and that's fiestas and holidays. I try to stay away from those circuits because it's usally a cut throat business. I don't want any part of that. Our success has come from dance halls and private engagements (corporations, weddings, anniversaries and so on) is our norm. Not to say we don't do the fiestas or holidays but I don't go looking for'em - we usally get invited to'em. Ohh, how's your patas feeling my hands are getting a little tired?
BBB: what is the future for LTW and your style of music?
Julian: The future is so bright, I have to wear shades...., I really didn't expect to be at it this long. After all we only got together to play a party. So we only practiced 16 songs. Ten years laters that quinceanera we played - well she got married this year and we also played for her wedding. How weird is that?
BBB: dam weird, I quess watching a woman grow, if you were given the opportunity to speak to one thousand young people what words would you use to encourage their future?
Julian: Dream, baby dream! Dreams do come true. Go to college. Most of all be proud of who and what you are and whatever you choose to do, do it well. I myself come from a poor neighborhood and a broken family but it was my decision to follow my dream and to control my destiny. That's why I say - dream baby dream. It can happen.
BBB: what has been the most exciting moment you and LTW have had recently?
Julian: That's easy - playing where Elvis introduced rock n' roll to the world - as we introduced Tejano to the world on the same stage - the Levitt Shell in Memphis, Tennessee. Our first song was Como La Flor de Selena. It was only right since she was the queen of Tejano.
BBB: I want to thank you Julian for your time and effort you made to meet us here at the state capital and hope you and LTW have the best of luck;

BARRIO INSURANCE AGENT ARRESTED ON BURGLARY,
BRAWL WITH OWNER OF PIT BULL,
AND BARRIO MEMBERS TAKE VOTE TO DISBAND CONSTABLES FORCE.
CONSTABLE CADENA yesterday charged a barrio model citizen Ernie Cruz with 25 counts of burglary. The owner of an insurance company, “EL Hood let me cover your ass” and also a part-time Sunday school teacher, was accused of entering the homes of his barrio friends for over a 6-year period. He, Mr. Cruz, knew they would be away and stole about 500 valuables things from their homes. According to constable cadena, it seemed that Ernie was always late to a golfing foursome because he stopped off to burglarize the homes of the barrio golfer partners. And another time he excused himself midway during a lunch date, allegedly dashed away to burglarize his compadres home and returned as the main course was being served. But the final blow came when He also allegedly stole from hospitalized friends' home during hospital visiting hours but didn’t realize que his friend had invited his brother to stay at his home while in the hospital. Further Charges are pending.
In other news yesterday afternoon a student from our hood Jose Gonzales Gonzales brawled with the owner of a pit bull, Alfred Alan. But before the constable could break up the fight, damage had already been done to Jose Gonzales face, legs and head. The constables reports says que the incident began when Gonzales Gonzales, in the midst of a night drinking with friends, started to urinate against a small mesquite tree and accidentally sprayed the dog, which by the way was also urinating against the tree. Charges are pending for both the dog and Mr. Gonzales.
And finally yesterday afternoon, After voting last year failure to disband the barrios constables office, residents of our barrio members will vote this weekend again to disband the whole barrio government. A major reason was dissatisfaction with the large number of traffic tickets, uncalled search without proper cause, looking through barrio residents windows late at night and on and on that constable cadena has been doing this pasted few years. Constable Cadena told this reporter que he had no comments.

Thanks again, Gloria, our barrio zoo well be closed this weekend in order to round up some barrio little critters but it will have a small display of household pets on the second floor. El senor ramon ruiz informed us que chingos de roaches, ants, and some little rats will be on display for those wanting to feel at home.

City and county leaders lay out goals for our side of the hood for 2010.
And finally illegal gambling up for 2010.
This pass weekend was the most the constable and barrio task force 666 had arrested in illegal gambling. From illegal Mexican bingo to regular bingos, card games , dice games, fighting cock games, dog fighting, arm wrestling, leg wrestling and big boo contest were all shut down this week on a giant effort to lower the crime in our hood. The constable tells us que almost 25 person we taken in and later released on bond. Many of the folks were elder men and women, especially the big boos. You wouldn’t believe who was involved. The constable tells us que many of the folks that were arrested were winter Texans looking of some excitement. The trial for all this gamblers we will be held in a few weeks.
Yesterday afternoon city and county leaders presented their goals for our side of the town for 2010. One of the biggest items was to reduce the number of outside bathrooms, better known as odd house. The city and county determind que 35 percent of the hood still didn’t have inside bathrooms. Our goals says henry smith, one of our city leaders, is to encourage our good friend to bring their shit inside their homes. In doing this, the city is thinking of offering some low interest loans to those folks that might qualified in order to improve their homes. If you are interested and still have your shitter outside please contact our cruy rojo community center for more details.
And finally Juan Salinas reported that the only tricycle cab on our side of the tracks got rob. He told the constable que three men on three bicycle managed to pull he over and took all his money and the back tires of his three tire tricycle. Mr. Salinas also stated que he will be out of business for a few days until he manages to up con two more tires. If anyone has any information pertaining to this matter please call the constable.

Kingsville,tx. Hi I am sure glad to be back from that long week assignment to the super bowl and later found out it was going to be held until two weeks from this past Saturday. Dang. But shit happens. And now for our barrio award winning headline news:
Recall on barrio super glue cream.
Cub scout leader busted with troop at the bingo house.
And finally ten more new snow cone vendors in the hood.
Well if seven street vendors selling snow cones and stuff wasn’t enough how about ten more. Yes ten more. It looked like a parade yesterday afternoon says el constable cadena when he noticed all seventeen vendors lined up and driving down the same street at the same time. So of the complaints that the residents filed from holding back traffic to music too darn loud. The barrio leaders will look at the matter this coming Sunday to see if they can limit the number of street vendor in the hood,.
I guess if you are addicted to bingo, you will do whatever it takes to make that bingo games helded ever Monday. Well that was the case con Johnnie Be good Munoz, this pasted Monday night. Mr. Munoz was released as a scout master for his local Cub Scouts because he took his troop, all ten boys to last week’s bingo with parent consent. It would have been ok says Mr. Bennnie Clasen, director of the regional scouts, the only problem was when several of the boys won some money and had to share it with mr. Munoz. So of the parents felt que their children should have not been at the bingo never the less gambling at such a young age. Parents are planning to file charges against mr. Munoz unless he gives the money back to the children.
And finally, It seems that Marcos Benavidez, the owner and the creator of Vato super glue , yes the one that glues everything real tight and can’t be moved unless you have that special formulated cream to release it from what it is glued too? Well it’s that special formulated cream that has been recalled. Benavides tells que he has been forced to recall at last 100 cans of this special cream due to the fact que it did not release the items that the Vato super glue the way it’s supposed to do. So if you have purchased any of this super glue please make sure and give Mr. Benavides a call so he can replace it.

Kingsville, tx. Hello again I am urbano yosabatodo con this week’s barrio stock market report from Kingsville tex. Well this month is almost over and do we have bills to pay this year. Chinga I will never again borrow that high rate increase short term pay back quick loan I got for Christmas. Let’s get down to business raza, and we have lots of things going on.
los taquitos are stable at $1.49 each at most restaurants unless there is a special. Cup of coffee is not include in some places. We know que in the dallas/ft.wt area can be found a 2 for $1.25…. oh well we will never know.
Las empanadas is the one que we monitor the most. First of all we will never ever again see them at 4 for a dollar. Second going rate for one is .79 cent each. In some convenient stores you can find them at 4 for $1.79, but not fresh.
Los tamales have dropped on price this quarter. The going price is $5.50 and have dropped from the holiday prices of $6.00 a dozen. Its just a matter of time before we will see the raise back to holiday prices.
La barbacoa by the pound is so hard to determine where this market is headed. Like we mention last week, que with that mad cow disease and other stuff gong on, we are wondering how long it will be before they stop selling beef heads. La barbacoa by the pound is at $4.50 a lb.

Our best suggestion is, that’s if anyone ones to hear it es que your better off in making them at home. But who really has the time to make them? And finally cheap beer. Well folks what can I say. Just in our hood there is three stores and ever-freaky store has different prices. We buy at the best deal. Cheap beer remain stable for the quarter at $4.65 a six pack.

City and county leaders lay out goals for our side of the hood for 2010.
And finally illegal gambling up for 2010.
This past weekend was the most the constable and barrio task force 666 had arrested in illegal gambling. From illegal Mexican bingo to regular bingos, card games , dice games, fighting cock games, dog fighting, arm wrestling, leg wrestling and big boo contest were all shut down this week on a giant effort to lower the crime in our hood. The constable tells us que almost 25 persons we taken in and later released on bond. Many of the folks were elder men and women, especially the big boos. You wouldn’t believe who was involved. The constable tells us que many of the folks that were arrested were winter Texans looking for some excitement. The trial for all this gamblers we will be held in a few weeks.
Yesterday afternoon city and county leaders presented their goals for our side of the town for 2010. One of the biggest items was to reduce the number of outside bathrooms, better known as odd house. The city and county determind que 35 percent of the hood still didn’t have inside bathrooms. Our goal says henry smith, one of our city leaders, is to encourage our good friend to bring their shit inside their homes. In doing this, the city is thinking of introducing some low interest loans to those folks that might qualify in order to improve their homes. And finally Juan Salinas reported that the only tricycle cab, on our side of the tracks got rob. Barrio prepare for 2009 irs filing.
Seniors are lined up for 2009 income tax dependent.
And finally la casa de cambio closes its door.
El barrio cruz roja community center has informed many barrio members that there is still time to come and claim your senior citizen for your 2009 income tax with no string attach. Yes you hear it right you can come over here and pick a senior and take the information needed to be able to claim them as a dependent. Of course this is legal, well at least in the hood.
In other news It seems that more and more raza are being trained to do income tax preparer based on what maria la vandia barrio study for 2009 indicated. This indication means that there will be less and less folks going across the track to seek this kind of income tax advisement. But what does that mean for el barrio? More tax refunds and more money to spend.
And finally, la casa de cambio has closed its door last night. It seems that there was no need for it anymore. La casa de cambio owner Marty Hilton explain que less and less business in the hood stop taking Mexican money. It was good while it lasted says Hilton but the joy ride has come to a halt and we will now convert our store and start selling Mexican candy and goods. There is always room for Mexican stuff in your home. Oh by the way base on how the economic is now a days we are not going too far, but we are considering doing business con the EURO. Hood gets sort of face lift.
10 arrested at two tons of fun bar.
And finally a new barrio radio station come soon.
Ben torres owner of several radio stations throughout the state has made an application to operate a radio station in the hood. WWWWBARRIO AM programming would include talk show, barrio sports show, barrio news, barrio stock market, barrio live coverage from different locations and on and on. We are very excited to hopefully get that permit so we can broadcast from within the hood.
In other news, Late last night a fight broke out at the “two tons of fun bar’ that resulted in 10 arrests. Most of the persons arrested were heavy women customers that got into it with some other slimmer women, that didn’t belong in this bar. El constable told us que he took a chinga trying to arrest all those big women at that bar ( just a footnote, this bar is strip bar for big women). None of the dancers were arrested.
And finally, The city fathers and mothers agreed to today to keep the Christmas decorations up till Easter. John Moore a city leader today told the committee that it would be great to leave up the xmas décor up on Westside so it could look cheerful. Many of our barrio members were not happy with that decision made by our city leaders. Tomas Garza a barrio member said it looks like xmas all year round. He suggested that we need to take them down to avoid children getting their holidays mixed up.

And finally, two get shot over the cowboy game.
Shots were fired, chingaso were thrown, and screaming and yelling could be heard always down the street after la familia Martinez y su primos got into an all out brawl Saturday night after the cowboy game. What sparked the fight, who knows says constable cadena, all we know is que we had to arrest at least 10 relatives and besides two getting shot, they were treated and send home from the barrio local health center. El constable will investigate the shooting but not the fight. No one was arrested but he is still looking for some vatos or persons that look like raza to arrest.
It seems that our local telephone line phones company have decided to remove all telephone poles in the hood this coming year. Si says martin chapa the lineman for the county told us que there are very few people using line phones que it’s cheaper to remove them than keep the maintained on them. Oh by the way if you were wondering about the electric power will those lines are under ground.
And finally, every day now we get calls from our local community college representative, telling us que the enrollment for this coming spring of 2010 is up 22 percent. There are many variables that have lead up to this increase on barrio folks returning or going to college. Here is a small list of why folks are going back to college;
Avoid the draft, free money if I can get in, my fall in love with a professor, borrow loans that I don’t pay back until 30 years or so, just get there and someone will help me and I can get a better job and career. Well for whatever reason you are using, stick with it and we are behind you bro. its never never too late to get an education..

Si billy, those cowboys are on a roll, they might be peaking at the right time and on that right road to the big game. Lets hope they can pass up the Vikings. Anyhow back to Bill.

And finally, thirteen year hears parents concerns.
It seems that every mid age person has a thirteen or around that age kid. That is the case here con la familia Pena. It seems que la familia pena father and mother love to talk with their kids about their life. From personal problems to bills and other stuff that really a thirteen year old child can’t do anything about never the less understand what the hell you are saying. All discussion always end the say way, “ I am just a thirteen age kid what do I know”. By the way this is part of a report que we will have from maria la vandia another barrio study.
In other news los vato locos’s volunteer fire fighters report que they responded to more than 10 fires this past few days, el mero mero loco tells us que now since the city relaxed its rules on having open fires in your home besides a chimney, its caused some major fires and major ass damages in the hood. Dthe only thing we can say is to those that have not burned your home down, keep the flame under control and a water hoes near by.
And finally almost the same story, the barrio environmental dude told us que an increase of smog has hit the hood this pasted few days. But after carefully studying the smoke it seems to be coming from our side of the hood and it’s not automobile smog its home smog. Again la raza has increased its usage of inside fires and chimneys que its increase the air quality and increase of smog. Barrio officials will address this matter this coming Tuesday at its weekly town meetings.
well raza there you have it and if you are burning wood to keep warm, go ahead, you will be the only one at work that smells like you came from el rancho.

Kingsville,tx. Once again I am Urbano Yosabatodo, con this week’s barrio stock market report. Now that Christmas’s bills have settled into our monthly payments, don’t you think it’s time to really start saving for Christmas now? 2010 started out real good in the real market but doesn’t show too must hope here in the hood/barrio.
Many barrio members we have interviewed tell us que this past Christmas was great, con mucho less hot stuff for sale this year que many had go an buy some real stuff. One vato said, que buy hot stuff was almost the same like buying it at a real store. The only differences is que you can use it for awhile and then take it back and bang you got your money back, whereas if it was some hot stuff, sold as it is.
Anyhow we just hope que you don’t argue about these bills con your wife or husband, because both of you are in it together.
So compadre y comadre, hold hands an ask yourself, que this year we won’t buy so much shit que we really don’t need and if we do want to buy, buy it for Christmas. That way you have chingos de presents under the tress.
Now for our barrio stock market report for 01082010.
Los Tamales: Well well it took a drop this week. El tamale guy tells us que los tamales are down and que he is real tired from la chinga he took during xmas con the selling of over 200 dozens. Man that is lots of wrapping brother. Tamales ended the week at $5.00 a down.
Los taquitos: Well we find it very interesting que at least two taco stands have closed down since the turn of the year. What makes a person drop everything after all that investment on someone else property? Oh well, los taquitos ended the week at $ 1.50 cents each and the coffee is extra.
Las empanadas: THE EMPANADA WAR OF 2006 had a huge impact on how empanadas are made nowadays. Las empanada ENDED THE FREAKING WEEK AT $.85 CENT EACH .
Cheap beer: Wow cheap beer is not too cheap as it was a few months ago. We are a bit worried que several vato’s in the hood have been thinking of making their own beer. We just hope que they don’t mess up and kill anyone. As you might remember que we did mention que me primo in 1965 almost killed 25 people con su home made brew. Cheap beer ended the week at $4.65 a six pack.
And finally la barbacoa de cavesa: Now the real challenge this year for la raza que owns livestock is que the production on llamas don’t start soon. La barbacoa de cavesa ended the week at $6.50 a lb.

Increase of blondes this 2010.

And finally snow cone man busted.
This 2010 will not have its traditional snow cone man drive around the hood selling snow cones and ice cream. It seems that ole man Black Joe Moreno was busted new year’s day con 10 pounds of weed and 17 packs of stolen goods. It seems that los undercover cops from across the hood had their eye on him for some time now says el constable cadena. Ole man Joe was not only delivering snow cones and ice cream but was making a few extra stops con su extra goodies.
A complaint has been file at the office of our justice of the peace from a woman whose name we will not use (maryra). Her complaints is against Two tons of fun bar ( designed for big women dancers) where she was hired as a dancer but with the conditions of gaining at least 40 to 50 pounds within a two month period. Well within that period she was only able to gain ten pounds and was treated to be fired if she didn’t gain the needed pounds. The complaint will go to court in a few weeks.
And finally, sisters and brothers have gone will this new year. It seems que at least 30 men and women have gone blonde headed. Yes you heard it right blonde headed and we are waiting to see in a few months to see who will keep that flashy hair style. Oh by the way we have asked self of those new blondes if its true that blondes have more fun!!!!

Yesterday afternoon it was reported que Tomas Sanchez was driving three families
Members passed out briefly behind the wheel of their car and Collided with another car, careened out of control, and struck a Utility pole. None was seriously hurt but several of the children lost several teeth when they hit their head on the dashboard. According to constable cadena report, the Father had become woozy from listening to his 22-year-old son and his 18-year-old daughter ,Describe for the family the bloody extraction of his and her wisdom teeth Earlier in the day.
Yesterday Troy Harry Tellez, 29, was released from st. Pauls medical center Three weeks after he turned around abruptly when talking to friends and Walked into the radio antenna of his car. The antenna went up his nose Almost four inches, pierced his sinus, and entered his brain, coming to Rest in his pituitary gland. Mr. tellez said que he felt better now that his sinus problems and his head aches gone away.
And finally former Boy Scout leader Dan the man with the plan 41,was charged with assault in connection with a private club he ran. His club induction ceremony seemed to be the severe paddling of new boys' buttocks. About 10 boys and young men were members, and police seized photographs and wooden paddles from his barrio club tree house . The police also seized all club records and copies of its by-laws.

Kingsville,tx, hello partner how are we doing today, I am Country Pancho, with today’s barrio headline news:
2009 crime was up in the hood.
An increase of persons separated or divorcees for 2009,
And finally, an decrease of deaths in the hood 2009.
It seems que 2009 was a prime example that many young people are willing to move for a better way of living, based on a study done by maria la vandia. More than 10 percent of the residents aging from 17 to 23 moved this past year to a better hood or town the study indicated. The study also indicated que 22 percent of the la raza aging from 24 to 46 moved more than 100 miles from the hood and only 10 percent came back this year. And finally the study indicated que 100 percent were willing to move but didn’t have the resources or a car to get to that new location. Barrio leaders will hold a special meeting to review this study and develop ways to keep people in the hood.
In other news, what does tiger woods, and other famous people have in common con our la raza? They love to mess around. In many cases this extra martial activities lead up to either getting separated or divorce. Well that was the case in the hood this pasted 2009. There was an 52 percent increase of separations and a 23 percent increase of divorces this past year in the hood, making 2009 a year not to forget. But there was a good foot note to this matter. At least 10 percent of both got back together during Christmas time.
