exclusive interview con Veronique Medrano, pinata army 2014

Exclusive interview con Veronique Medrano, pinata army 2014.

Cchwnn.

Brownville, Texas. Hello mi raza I am Blanca Blanch Blanco con on the road again interview. This week my bicycle takes me deep south, Brownsville, Texas to meet up con Veronique Medrano, Tejana singer. Now for that interview.

Bbb: hi dear, can you give me a hand off this bicycle?

Vm:  Let me jump in the back and “Lets Ride!”

BBB: well first of all I am very excited to meet you and after seeing your picture on several website and yours, Can you describe you whole promotional package and the look you want us to perceive?

VM:  I love the Rockabilly look and the whole style of the 50s.  So, I’m taking it, adding some of my own flare and calling it Tejanobilly.  The piñatas on the other hand are a representation of unity, family & fun.  Growing up my Mom always had a piñata for all occasions; birthday parties, holidays, you name it she always had one specially made, lol.  My uncle broke his ankle once and guess what?  Yep, there was a piñata of an ankle in a cast!  LOL.  Mmmmm, maybe we’ll make one of you one day Blanca.

BBB: let’s take a trip back to the earlier days of Veronique, what did we want to accomplish at a very young age to where we are now?

Vm:  Education was always my main focus, it still is.  I graduated from Lopez High School in 2009.  I studied music at the University of Texas at Brownsville and then moved to Edinburg to complete my bachelors at UTPanAmerican; I majored in humanities.  I am planning to pursue my Master Degree in Business.

BBB: being considered an Independent artist in the la Onda Tejana, how difficult can it be in promoting your own unique style?

VM:  I think no matter the genre being an independent artist is quite difficult.  It pretty much means you are doing what you can with what you have.  I am grateful for my family, friends, & fans (my 3F’s).  Because of them and social media we have done so much with little to no financial support.

BBB: What were some of your major concerns when you released your first album  “regresando a mis Racies” in 2013, and which songs off this album really launched your singing career?

Vm: The first concern was if the music would be accepted?  It is quite difficult to come out with new material that no one has ever heard before.  We have been blessed that everyone has given us positive feedback and asking us for more!  Sin Saber was liked among the Tejano fans and the reason we re-released it on the “Encantadora” album.

BBB: a year later we have noticed that you have released a new album. Can you tell us a little about that and how successful it has been?

VM:  Upon receiving the news that I had made it to the Top 5 Best New Female Artist at the 34th Annual Tejano Music Awards in San Antonio we released a special edition of “Encantadora” with new artwork.   The album is still getting recognition and we are going to be touring in 2015. We also just released a Christmas single titled “Ya Viene Navidad” this Thanksgiving along with a music video; it has also been well received by the public.

BBB: lol tell us about Veronique  Pinata Army and how it got started and stand for?

Vm:  Well, it actually got started when we were working on getting a marketing plan as to the look we wanted to achieve as we moved forward with the promotion of “Encantadora.” The piñata was first used on promotional posters and then t-shirts.  It even made it to the cover of the special addition artwork.  Then fans started sending me pics of drawings they had made and I even received a hand made Mini-Me piñata from a very special fan.  So, I began calling my fans my Piñata Army.

It symbolizes my culture and part of who I am and things that I love about being Latina.  As I mentioned earlier, in our home during the holidays and all types of celebrations there is always a piñata.  Everyone gets a chance to break it; we start with the little ones and then the grownups also get a chance.  All of our fiestas have the air filled with music, enticing aromas of bbq’d food and in the company of great family & friends.  So, with that being said we want our music to be reflective of who we are and how we tend to have a good time.

BbB: from all the performances is there one that still stands out in your mind?

VM: There are so many but for now the most recent is at Dean Porter Park two weeks ago when we had a Christmas Concert to launch the Christmas single “Ya Viene Navidad.”  The day began with the filming of the music video for this single and in attendance were the children who sang on the track and their families.  Later in the evening the entire Pullam Elementary Band & Choir joined me on stage.  It was very special to me to share that moment and milestone with everyone in attendance that day.  It was a special day filled with so much love and support and to see the young kids singing my song was extremely emotional for me!  I am truly blessed.

BBB: how important do you think education is? And have you ever reconsidered going into another career?

Education and hard work are the elements of success.  Education has given me the courage and confidence to follow my dreams. I have considered doing other things in communications and truly enjoy marketing.  I could easily see myself in film whether in front or behind the camera; I love creating.

BBB: How supportive has your family and friends been?

VM:  Blanca, the support has been crucial from day one and without my 3F’s (Family, Friends & Fans) I would not be talking to you today.

BBB: do you much traveling when you perform and how hard is it on your family and you personally?

VM:  We do a lot of traveling.  This coming year I will be going on tour with a live show and it will be a bit more challenging since I work full-time; I love music so I will make it work, lol.  The Veronique Crew is always on the road with me and they are my source of strength that keeps me going.

BBB: does having the right band members’ help in live performances?

Vm: Does Blanca love her white Go-Go Boots?  Of course it does.  It has taking me a while to find the right ingredients for The Puro Party Band.  You cannot make a good dish without the right ingredients.  What is the difference between a good meal and a great meal?  The ingredients!  Every single piece is crucial in having a great performance.

BBB: one of our favor questions is if you were asked to speak with a group of students interested in getting into the music business, what encouraging words would you use?

Vm: I’ve been to many schools in my town and get this question a lot.  My answer every single time is, “Arm yourself with an education and always follow your heart.”

BBB: and finally Ms. Veronique Medrano what would you like to share with your worldwide fan base?

Vm: Thank you for your constant love and support.  It has made this journey a much easier road to travel.  Please continue to tell your family and friends about my music.  Piñata Army assemble!!!  Visit my page at www.veroniquemedrano.com

BBB; Veronique I want to thank you for giving us the time to do this interview, can you point to highway 77 North?

VM:  Let’s go get our nails done first, my treat!

BBB:  gee well as long as they don’t say anything about my horse nails….

wow what was that all about? It was exciting and funny, and we know that we have a new friend and a Tejano star for many more years con Veronique Medrano, I am BBB, good day.

I got into the rap scene when i was about 13 years old my older homies in the neighborhood would always freestyle I liked how to they would go back and forth so I jumped in on it one day and found out how much I liked it...

BBB: how difficult can it be to get a rap release and marketing it?

M:  It all depends on how determined you are and also your financial status... sometimes who you know and what you know... If you don’t have the ambition it can be very difficult...

BBB: when you travel from show to show how hard is it on your family and you personally?

M: 4. It's not to hard on me at all my daughter's moms are great... they've always lived with them so traveling isn't a problem except the fact I ain't got my licence right now but I love to travel...

BBB: is there still one performance that stands out the most from all the different ones you done?

M:  I would have to say the one we did in Tucson, AZ it was with Lil Rob I can't remember the exact date but yeah...

BBB: lots of folks in the hood stereotype rappers as all being blacks, of course there are those exceptions, do you thing that you might be one of them ( big joe, block boyz)?

M: No I believe rap is color blind its a human nature to express your feelings on a dope beat...

BBB: how do you get inspired to write lyrics for rap songs?

M: I found it as a way to vent so I would say when my feelings need to come out and that is frequent... And also listening to other rappers

BBB: tell about the latino rap scene in Albuquerque?

M:  We have a lot of great Latino rappers in Albuquerque much of them are about street life... at least the higher level rappers are we do lots of shows and swap meet hustle but there are some that have major record deals...

BBB: how did you get involved with Chicanothugrecords?

M: My brother Mr. Chicano Thug had opened the label in 2008 i was recruited in 09 after a long separation... I was at the flee market and ran into one of the childhood homies and he told me they had got on the shelf so i went and bout a CD from hastings and called the the number on the back of it left a message and no longer than 10 minutes my brother called me back and asked " I was thinking if you aren't already spoken for i would like to have you on  my label... You are one of the baddest rappers I know" i said yes... I was in the studio a week later rapping for Chicano Thug Records...#

BBB: have you ever tried rapping to conjunto music?

M: .No but it would be an experience I wouldn't mind trying...

BBB: I am sure you are aware that some conjunto and banda music and songs glamorize cartel type of life, does your rap songs going along that type of feeling?

M: #11.I've converted that life style into a lot of my music yes but I am gradually moving forward to a different lifestyle and easier music for all type of listeners... but I will be staying in the rap/hip hop/rnb scene...#

BBB: where can we imagine Merk in five years?

M: .I've converted that life style into a lot of my music yes but I am gradually moving forward to a different lifestyle and easier music for all type of listeners... but I will be staying in the rap/hip hop/rnb scene...

BBB: one of our favor questions is if you were given the chances to speak with a group of young folks what would you tell them?

M: In General I would like to tell em anything is possible as long as you put your better side of your mind to it... Never give up on trying... And if you fail at something try again until it gets right... Also my experiences within exception.

exclusive interview with Marcus Daniels 2014

Exclusive interview with Marcus Daniels, 2014.
Cchwnn.
Waco, Texas. Hello raza I am Blanca Blanch Blanco con on the road again interview. This week my bicycle takes me way up to central Texas to meet up con a new upcoming Tejano star Marcus Daniels, and now for that impressive interview.
Bbb: Hello big guy, can you give me a hand off this bicycle?
Md: Hello Blanca Blanch Blanco. Sure I can help you. By the way love the outfit!

BBB: ok let’s get the record straight, you are African American, how in the world did you get involved con la onda Tejana?
Md: Yes... just an ordinary black guy not Dominican, Cuban or Puerto Rican... Born and raise Texan. La onda Tejana was introduced to me as an early teen. I would stand up in Quincaneras and invited to dances with my friends from school. I first became intrigued with dancing Tejano music. Had to become the best dancer around. That was my gold.

BBB: with some many challenges in life how difficult has it been for you to get into the main stream de la onda?
Md: Thanks to social media and internet radio stations it has moved a bit faster than I anticipated. I wouldn't say main stream de la onda but I'm knocking on it's door... " Open Up I Want In Dude" Who's ever on the other side of the door should move because I'm about to kick it in.

BBB; what do your family think about this new endeavor and your music career?
Md: Incredible support more than I expected. My sister asked for the lyrics so that she could sing along and also translate.

BBB:  as you might already know, list of Black Tejano entertainers are not many but some have broken into the Tejano music market, what are some of your expectations?
MD: I don't mind at all being compared to Bobby El Charro Negro Butler or Dee Burleson. Those guys are awesome. I would be thrilled with any portion of their success. I will bring my own sabor which will standout from a lot of other new artist. I really think it will go over well in studio but definitely in live performances

BBB: tell us a little bit about your latest release “Tu Calor”?
Md: Like I mentioned before dance in a passion of mine. So i wanted this 2nd single to be a song people would love to dance. Some call it a progressive Tejano song.

BBB: what is on the back burner for 2015 for Marcus Daniels?
Md: Staying busy in the studio with Sotero Seniceros to have the full CD ready by Fall 2015.. Marcus Daniels Y Algo Suave are currently booking for 2015

BBB: from all the performances up to now, is there one that still that you remember the most?
Md: servral to pick from; I have had the opportunity to open up for Ruben Ramos. I also was allowed to take lead on Vestido Blanco with Jessy Serreta. Fan Fair was awesome as well.

BBB: I am sure learning and singing Spanish is a great accomplishment, are there times that Tejano speaking Spanish folks surprised by your mastering this language?
Md: It's fun to see that double take when people are trying to figure out what they are seeing. And fun to hear that question" Where are you from?" By the way its no where near mastered.

BBB: Mr. Daniels if you were asked to speak with a group of young people what would say to them?
MD: If you love it and you want it do it. Do it now and stop wasting time. If it's in your heart and you have a passion for it failure should not be a factor.

BBB: and finally sir what would like to tell your fan base from all over the world?
Md: Thanks to La Onda Tejana for the support I have received so far it has been awesome. If you have not had the chance please check my two releases "Por Que Mi Amor and "Tu Calor" are on all major media outlets and also at Texsoundpublishing.com

BBB: well sir it was very nice of you to give us this time to do this interview, and now can we go to dinner, but first give me a hand on this bicycle?
Md: Thanks for the time Blanca Blanch Blanco and Thanks to Cchwnn

BBB: well it’s a very unique situation here, I love my job and I enjoy traveling throughout this great country interviewing Tejano performers, today was one of them con Marcus Daniels, I am BBB and good day.
