hejola report for 02292012

Hejola report for 02292012.
Cchwnn.
Kingsville, TX. Hello again I am Bill Diaz con today’s leap year award winning barrio headline news:
Leap year causes panic at the bank.
Two arrested for stealing.
And finally ESTA VATO LOCO gets elected.
After twenty years of running for office our own ESTA VATO LOCO got his dream come true when he was elected the official dog and cat catcher for the county and city. ESTA VATO LOCO told a crowd of folks “ I am very proud to have been elected and I promise not to drink nor smoke during working hours and I promise que every cat and dog will be treated fairly. Alright vato.
Two vatos and several dogs were hauled off to jail on charges of stealing and lying to the cops. It seems that these two vatos didn’t think que anyone was going to notice them dress like nuns inside a liquor store, not buying anything but just walking around. Once the clerk in the liquor store noticed the two nuns seemed a bit fatter than when they walked in, decided to ask them if they needed any help. Well one of the vatos got a bit nervous and dropped a bottle of wine. The clerk called the cops and was detain for awhile until they realized que they weren’t real nuns. Charges will be filed.
And finally,Yesterday a ton of barrio folks stood in line thinking que the world was coming to an end when they realized their government checks were being held on day back. Its un-American, its plan communist, its Obama’s fail and so on where some of the concerns folks had about their checks not in their banking accounts. Many didn’t realize que this month had 29 days and not just 28 days like before. After a few beers given out and a few chips all the folks there were happy and move on to better things.
Ok raza got to go.

Kingsville,tx. Hello again raza bill diaz con today’s award winning barrio headline news:
Vato busted for practicing medicine without a licenses.
Rain doesn’t spoil fun day.
And finally election day today.
El constable and county officials are keeping an eye on todays elections. There are a hand full of elected positions that need to be filed and we are hoping que the hood shows up to vote. The following are up for grabs: county and city dog catcher. County and barrio tax collector. Barrio justice of the peace pct. 1. Good luck to our good friend ESTA VATO LOCO.
Yesterday a bunch of tejanos and few others showed up for fun day at the mall. The idea behind fun day is persons are allowed to dress in their better tejano wear and get a giant discount of 10 percent off everything at the mall. The only problem is that the mall merchants set up their booths outside the mall. After several inches of rain, thunders, and a beautiful rainbow the sale went on. The mall manager was not available for comments.
AND  finally, After ten tons of complaints the federal, state, county and local law dogs came down hard on el comparde Luis Mata, mc, md, sp. Well, he  was arrested yesterday afternoon for practicing medicine without a licenses. It seems that Mata had created a medicine or shall I say a miracle drug that would eliminate that turkey neck look ( the skin that hangs under your neck). This medicine was nothing but a cream that folks use for hemorrhoids. Once a person applied it to their neck, they  had  to make sure they use it every day of the week. The only problem was once you ran out of it; the skin kind of came back and made a person look like an older turkey and the skin hanged a little bit longer, like around you’ll chest. Charges are pending.

exclusive interview con lefty ray chapa 2012

Exclusive interview con Lefty Ray Chapa“tejano photos”, 2012.
Ccwhnn.
San Antonio ZOO. Hi Santa Cecilia, la que te canta, con on the road again interviews. This week our creator has send us back to san anto for a real treat. That is we will have a chance to interview the man with the golden lens, and a key eye, Lefty Ray, guiding and photography services. Well enough of that and let’s get to that interview.

Sc; hi Righty, can you help me off this bicycle Lefty Ray?
LR: Yes, I can, but we are in Texas and just like a horse you get off on the left side, not the right side.

Sc; gee it’s been awhile since I have visited the zoo, Mr. LR, tell us how did this all come about in establishing yourself as a tejano photographer?
LF: Overall I have been a photographer for over 40 years. I was used to shooting live action of any kind, sports, wildlife, etc. When I moved to San Antonio in the 80’s, shooting live Tejano events were just a natural expansion.

SC: I am sure that tejano stars and events is just one of many of your main topic, but what other areas do you specialize in?
LR: My business is like a 3 legged stool. Outdoor photography/writing and being a fishing guide constitute the 2 other legs. Two day ago I attended the Texas Outdoor Writers Association (TOWA) annual conference and won multiple awards in photography and writing with the highlight being 1st place in photography. Being recognized by your peers is chilling.

SC: Lf what is it with still images that captures your attention?
LF: It is the intersection of time, emotion, action, location, and light.

SC: what are some of your favorite pictures you have taken that come to mind?
LF: Two happened in the same photo shoot with the subject being Ruben Ramos for a past CD shoot. The first one occurred when my main light became unplugged and I took the photo which ended up with Ruben being illuminated by my two side lights, creating a sort of silhouette. That image ended up on the back cover of the “Revolutionized” CD. The other involved the end of the shoot. I said, “We are done,” and Ruben spread his hands out and looked up to the sky. Luckily I had my finger on the trigger and snapped that one. That image became the inside of the 4 panel. Both can be seem here, www.leftyray.com/revolutionized/

SC: if you were to look back into the many photos your archives has, what have you noticed in some of your early images compared to the present ones, in the areas such as producing, style, and technical foundations?
LF: No recording artist has the perfect face or body. For example Mick Jagger does not have the prettiest face and Luciano Pavarotti does not have the slimmest of figures. Over the years I have improved in the manner of making people look better. There is no manual for doing this, just little tips and tricks I have picked up or developed on my own.

SC: wow what do you think you could do for me, well anyhow, is there a natural instinct in your style of picture taking?
LF: I look for emotion. A lot of the Tejano performers have signature moves on stage whether they realize it or not. By recognizing their moves I can anticipate when the turn, when they smile, etc.

SC: did you have a Kodak brownie camera when you were a kid?
LF: Yes, but it belonged to my mom.
Sc: I am sure you often heard people say I took a picture, and in most cases that is exactly what we have done, what do you think a pictures represents?
LF: A slice of life.

SC: what is in the future for Left Ray and in your own vision of tejano music as an art?
LF: I would at some time like to have a gallery show of my top Tejano images. Tejano music is an art and an art, I hope, does not end up being a 30 minute radio show on NPR.

Sc: has the internet ruin lots of film companies, in other words, is film a thing of the past?
LF: Film is dead. Kodak, the mother of photography just filed Chapter 11 and became the butt of several jokes at Sunday night’s Oscars telecast. The event has been held at the Kodak Theater, but a Federal court allowed Kodak out of their naming rights contract to the theater, so Billy Crystal made several jokes about it and it is now referred to as the Hollywood theater even though the Kodak name is still on the front façade.

SC: has your photography won you any awards?
LF: Apart from what I mentioned above, I have won numerous TOWA’s over the years and at the TOWA banquet on Saturday night, I finally got to meet Joe Nick Patoski. Joe Nick wrote the biography on Selena and on his blog in 2007 called me, “The Premiere photographer of Tejano music.” I am also the credited photographer on 2 Grammy winning CD’s and a dozen Grammy nominated CD’s. While people who assisted with the production of a CD project do not get an actual Grammy, we do get a very nice Grammy certificate of which two are proudly hanging on the wall in my home.

SC: if given a chance to speak with a group of young people interested in being a professional photographer, what encouraging words would you tell them?
LF: 1st: Practice, practice, practice. Sports figures and bands practice all of the time to get it right. With practice you cannot help by becoming better. 2nd: Experiment, try different things. When I buy a new camera, I practice for several months so I know what the camera can do and more importantly cannot do.

SC: you know lefty, I am kind of a big woman, (300lbs, hot shorts, and gogo boots) would I make a good model?

LF: Every person has internal beauty. It is my job to bring that out in an image.

SC: and finally sir, what do you want to say to your worldwide fans?
LF: Worldwide indeed. When I check the stats on my website, I can see the different countries that have clicked on www.leftyray.com. It is amazing. To them I hope I can continue to produce the best dam Tejano images on the planet. After all it is quality, not quantity.

SC: (smiling) well Lefty I have to move on and sir can you give me a hand back on this bicycle and point south to me?
LF: From here at the zoo head towards the Tower of Americas and keep going.

SC: now tell are Tejanos the most talented people in the world? I am Santa Cecilia la que te canta. Good day.

Kingsville, TX. Hi, Bill Diaz here con our award winning barrio headline news:
Barrio main drag shut down after Academic awards riots.
Hot shorts on a comeback.
And finally income reminder.
Yesterday the senior citizen center reminded barrio members that are still filing their income tax for 2011 that the center still have several seniors not claimed this year were waiting just for you. Come on by an pick a senior and file.

Yesterday at the tenth annual barrio model show the return of hot shorts for big women made a big splash this year. It seems they thought of putting a swimming pool in the middle of the walkway would look cool. Well it did look cool that’s if you looked hot!! And that is what happen con la commadre Maria Zamora, was modeling a pair of hot pink shorts, with tall blue and white go go boots, with a large black belt with a giant buckle, tripped on the rug and fell into the small pool. It took los vato loco volunteer firefighters several minutes to get la commadre out of the small pool. La commadre was not injuried but those hot shorts got wet and started to reduce in size. A large curtain was torn down to cover la commadre who looked as she was wearing a barrio tong. No charges will be filed.

Yesterday evening a small riot was started after several gay tejanos made up of aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, primos, primas, and a few characters were asked to leave the TWO TONS OF FUN TAVERN, a barrio gay bar after their favorite actor didn’t win the main award. Some started throwing bottles and cupcakes at the giant 12 inch TV at the bar. That is when Big Joe mama, bar owner, asked them to leave the place. So the furious crowd packed their things and took their complaint outside the bar and blocked the main drag for several hours until the program had ended. No arrested were made but something dress like a movie start was hauled off.
Ok got to go raza.

exclusive interview con Grupo Maldad.2012

Exclusive interview con Grupo Maldad, JR Ramos, 2012.

Cchwnn.

Somewhere along the river walk, SA, texas, hello raza I am santa Cecilia la que te canta con our on the road again interviews. This week our three wheel bicycle takes us to the san anto meet up con JR Ramos del grupo Maldad. Let’s get to it

Sc: hell JR como esta, can you give me a hand of this bicycle, wow this river looks deep?

JR: I'm doing good. And it’s not as deep as you think.

SC: thank you for taking time to do this interview ?

JR: thanks for making the trip out here!

SC: el Grupo Maldad is the 2nd generation san anto own los aguilares, can you give us a little background on how maldad started?

JR: well, after a couple of years that I moved to Houston, I wanted to put a band together out here. I really didn't have any luck finding musicians so I called my good friend Santos. He and I always had a pact that one day we would do something of our own. Santos is the son of Emilio Aguilar de Los Aguilares, and at the time when I was playing accordion with Los Aguilares, Santos was on percussion. We were then lucky enough to get a hold of Marco Jaime, who was one of the original singers for Rodeo, and everything fell into place from then on.

SC: how difficult is it to stay on top of la onda tejana when you guys have been nominated for a list of tejano awards?

JR: it’s very difficult. There is so much talent out there right now. But we just keep doing what we do best and try to give the people what they want to hear.

SC; when preparing for a dance, how does a group select its music for each set?

JR: it all depends where we are playing. In one city, they might like more polkas; in another city, they might like more cumbias or country. While we are playing on stage, we read the people and what they like more, and try to give them that.

SC: I listen to a cut from your official website “ tu Nuevo querer, who wrote and did the arrangements on that song?

JR: that song is an old recording by David Lee Garza y Los Musicales back when Ram was with them. We heard it and knew we could do something with it. We changed up the music a little, and even brought in Ram to record it with us. He and Marco did a great job on the vocals.

SC; is it more difficult to do your own original music than to play other tejano artist material?

JR: I believe so. But as a band, I think that is something you really need to do. Of course, you always have to keep the traditional cover songs part of your set because people love to hear them.

SC: how demanding is it on a band when on the road, with family members and one’s health?

JR: it’s very demanding. There are times that we miss out on our babies birthday celebrations, anniversaries, baptisms, Christmas, New Years, Thanksgiving, etc. Its hard leaving the family, especially around special occasions, but its part of our job. And its always good to have such understanding families.

SC: what is in the future for Grupo Maldad?

JR: more gigs, more cds, and hopefully, more fans; Con el favor de Dios! Also, this year, we have more out-of-state gigs in Illinois, Idaho, Arizons, Washington, and New Mexico. And of course, as always, we are all around Texas.

SC: I am sure we have fond memories of being in the music for sometime, is there one event that stands out above the others?

JR: not really. We make the best of each gig whether there are 10, 100, or 1000 people. And of course, us being brothers, we have an awesome time together. Joking around and laughing all weekend long. And to me, that's the main thing; no matter how many memories we have from the past, we always make sure we make new ones.

SC: what is your opinion on the future of la onda tejana?

JR: I think tejano is making a huge comeback. With all the talent in the industry right now, whether veterans, or new bands, there's no way to go, but up. And as long as we have the support from all tejano fans,(buying albums, supporting live events, etc.), we will continue to grow. Not just speaking on behalf of Maldad, but all tejano acts.

SC; if given the chance to speak with a group of young musicians what encouraging words would you use ?

JR: Practice; learn as much as you can and master your craft. Even after you master it, you will always learn something new.
Be true to who you are and never try to be someone your not.
And always stay humble. Never forget who helped you get to where you are. Your fans, friends, and of course, family.

SC: and finally, JR is there anything that you would like to share with your fan base around the world?

JR: of course. On behalf of myself and all the guys, we really do appreciate all the support you have given us. Like I say at every show, "without you, the fans, we are nobody." Thank you from the bottom of our heart and may GOD bless each and every one of you.

SC: well big guy, its time for me to hit the road, can you give me a hand back on this bicycle and point south for me?

JR: no problem. Thank you very much. But before you leave, make sure you stop by Marcos' restaurant, Sam and Djs, for a nice, big, juicy burger. Have a safe trip!!!

SC: as we peddle up and down the hill country it’s always good to know that family tradition is still a big thing in la onda tejana. I am santa Cecilia la que te canta, good day.

barrio stock market report for 02242012

Barrio stock market report for 02242012.
Cchwnn.
Kingsville, Texas. Now from that misty smelly 1978 ford whatever here is our own barrio guy urbano yosabatodo.
Heaveno once again raza. It’s that weekend again and is you ready to spend some money raza? Nope.
Now that market report que you can’t wait for:
Just for the record, here is the listed of the markets we are now monitoring for 2012:
Las empanadas
Los taquitos
Los tamales
Las flour tortillas by the dozen
La Baracoa by the pound
And finally cheap beer

Well after posting that Barrio economic development study results for first quarter of 2012 things have been happening here real quickly. First of all the barrio stock market was closed this passed Tuesday due to the fact que we wanted to see what esta David Duran had to say about the status of our hood. Well after reading his non scientific study we found out que there sure is lots of poor people in our hood.

Las empanadas had no major impact con esta study y do not foresee any increase on price for the end of this quarter of the year. Remain stable at .59 cents each. We will never ever again see them at four for a dollar.
Los taquitos did get some kind of of reaction out of this study. We kind of determined que if more people got up a bit earlier they wouldn’t have to buy taquitos in the morning. But since many do work and have some kind of money it really makes no differences. Los taquitos remained stable at $1.25 each and coffee is not included. But we can say que taquitos are a better buy in larger city where it is reported que they go for two for $1.25.
Hejolia

Los tamales went back to $5.00 a dozen which is the same price it was last year at this same time. We do not see any increase in the horizon until Easter sometime. Barrio tamale brokers are still waiting to see what Manuel Gonzales is going to do about buying out all the small restaurants in the hood.

Las tortillas de flour remain stable at .89 cents a dozen to $1.20 a dozen all depending on the name brand you buy/ we recommend que you pay a bit more for better quality. Oh yea.

La barbaco is still at $6.50 a lb. Con very little fat on it. It is very important que you say that. If not puro fat y no meat.

And finally last night we broke the ice and bought beer a quarter more than we use to. But we had several reasons but that is another story. Cheap beer stables at $3.65 a six pack.

Well raza there you have it for this week, y again toda la raza headed to san anto god be with you all.

From our 1978 ford whatever I am urbano yosabatodo.

2012 cchwnn person of the year.

2012 Chicano cable person of the year?

Cchwnn.

Kingsville, TX. Hello again, my name is Daniel Lopez, the creator. As I step out of my lonely darkened bad room I am here to announce our 2012 person of the year. This person will join a very impressive group of persons that have been honored by our award. Such as, Linde Escobar, J.V. Villanueva, Joe Lopez, God father of brown soul Crazy Chuy Hernandez and Jay Perez.

The criteria we used were based on their continuous input into la onda tejana. The ability to withstand criticism on issue one believes in and being able to tolerate all kind of positive and negative remarks based on their stands. In addition being able to provide ideas either good or bad and understanding that many might not go along. Yet this person kept it coming and even as we speak this person strives to do something positive for la onda tejana.

The decision I made took many hours of reviewing postings after posting and reading personal emails I received. It is our honor today February 24, 2012 to announce our person of the year goes to ROBERT CHAVER, AKA TEJANO GUY.

WE HOPE THAT YOU ACCEPT OUR AWARD AND WE LOVE YOU MAN.

hejola report for 02232012

Hejola report for 02232012.
Cchwnn.
Kingsville, TX. Hello again, bill Diaz and am I glad to be back. After last week assignment and getting to meet a lot of people it feels good to be home. But for now, here is our award winning barrio headline news:
Fight breaks out at barrio debate.
Aggravated assault charges filed.
And finally tejano dance ends early.
Last night was the first tejano dance for the lent seasons. The purpose of these dances says one of the organizers is to give tejano dance goers and opportunity to see if they really gave something up for lent, such things as tejano dances, drinking, stop watching judge judy, cussing, cheating, eating, talking, lying, spending, farting, desserts, sending mad messages to people,   and so on. But that wasn’t the problem. When a few church goers decided to stop by the dance and see who was there. Some were so offended que the felt que they were being spy on and took on their own to teach them a few lent lesions. All ten people were arrested and we asked to sit in the corner for a few hours at the jail house.
In other news, It seems that folks just can’t watch tv in peace now a days. That seems to have been the case with Martha Hope and her older husband Ben Hope, when she  hit over the head with a hammer as they were watching television. Mr. hope told us que the argument started when his wife accused him of not knowing shit about gun smoke tv program.
And finally, For the three week now a fight has broken out at the barrio debate over who will be elected head dog catcher. This time it was one of the audience members that threw the first punch when he asked one of la barrio member running for office what would he do if he found out that he had more cats and dogs than what the city allows (maximum 5 cats and 5 dogs per family member). Ben Casey Gomez, a single man, and  owner of at least 27 cats and 32 dogs, asked if they were going to enforce this city ordinance. That’s when one candidate told Gomez que he would make darn sure que if he were elected today, he would over to his home and arrest his ass and haul off all pets off. That’s when Gomez got up and jumped over the table and started punching the responder.  Charges will be filed, oh by the way Mr. Gomez was allowed to take his pets home before he went to jail. It seemed que Mr. Gomez had brought his collection of pets with him to the debate.
Ok raza got to go.

westinghouse barrio mall newsletter for 02222012

Westinghouse barrio mall newsletter for 02222012.

Cchwnn.

Kingsville, TX. Hello again I am Gloria Guerra con this week’s mall newsletter. Well if the shit wasn’t enough where the city, county, and state people took it on their own to start knocking the hood down, well con todo esto the mall was also effected, now with that report here is alcardio samudio.

Si Gloria drug and law enforcement officers along con el constable cadena raided several stores here at the mall. El senior MI casa Es su casa restaurant owner got busted for selling weed here in the mall. My god what the hell is wrong con el compadre casas. Chinga if la raza didn’t have it so bad already and now give our mall a bad name.

In addition to all this Gloria, Martha Gomez owner of Martha’s nail and curls were also raided for selling hot stuff. Chinga what else could have happen! Furthermore, j.j. exclusvie interview con el padrino de conjunto is life. 2012

Exclusive interview con El Padrino, de conjunto is life, 2012.

Cchwnn.

Southside San Antonio, tejas. Hello mi raza Santa Cecilia la que te canta con on the road again interviews. This week our bicycle takes us to southside to meet up con ese vato El Padrino, con conjunto is life, now let us get to that interview:

Sc: como esta Padrino, can you give me a hand off this bicycle sir?

EP; Simón, nice yonka homie!

SC: first of all sir how long have you been en la onda tejana como musican?

EP:Well I started off in the early 90's when the Tejano industry was strong and there were alot of groups forming and being signed by major labels. A friend of mine wanted to join the bandwagon so we started a group called "Los Padrez", we released one CD in 1996 called "Que Padre" under the Manny Music Label. I played accordion, my teacher back then was legend Valerio Longoria. By the late 90's things slowed down alot so we just kind of let it die, but then in the early 2000's my compadre Juan Santillan (who used to sing with Los Padrez) and I would get together because he was learning the Bajo Sexto, and we shared a love for traditional CONJUNTO music. We would just jam, and then in 2005 we decided to start a Conjunto band called "Los Padrinos", and we have been doing that ever since, gracias a Dios. You can also visit www.conjuntolospadrinos.com for more info! Órale!

SC: how did conjunto is life come about?

EP: My compadre Jesús told me about a website where you can create social networks, I thought it was a cool idea, and since I loved playing with the computer and I loved CONJUNTO music, I decided to create one that was all about CONJUNTO. I had seen t-shirts in the past that said things like "Golf is Life", or "Baseball is Life", so I decided to make a social network called "Conjunto is Life"! I bought the domain www.conjuntoislife.com and the rest is history!

Sc: do you think that tejano is dying?

EP: I guess it depends on what you mean by "Tejano" and what you mean by "dying". I think the Tejano music industry has pretty much collapsed compared to where it was when I started (late '80's early '90s). That is not a bad thing, because I think some groups began losing sight of the culture and our roots and were focused on popularity and acting stupid. Joe Lopez y Mazz at one point didn't bother to show up to gigs if they did not like the numbers of fans. Bands thought they could make a living with music but only a few are able to really survive on gig money.

Many bands charged a lot of money, the money is not there anymore, at least not in San Antonio. "Tejano" music is not dead especially in its ORIGINAL form, which is CONJUNTO. CONJUNTO is not really an industry, it is roots, and soul music. It is the original folk music of Texas, puro corazón. There are many diehard CONJUNTO fans, because this is our music, it is a reflection of the hard life our people suffered in trying to make a living here in the US. Working in la pisca, was one of the major influences of CONJUNTO, it is something we should be proud of. We don't need anyone trying to create a market for CONJUNTO, you either like it or you don't. You either feel it, or you don't.

"Tejano Industry" music owes much to CONJUNTO music. I also serve on the board of the Conjunto Heritage Taller in San Antonio, and let me tell you we have not had a shortage of students - and most are under 35 years of age. Squeeze box music is alive and well, just visit the Tejano Conjunto Festival here in San Anto and you will see for yourself!

SC: what do you think makes conjunto is life to many tejano fans and bands?

EP: Three words. CONJUNTO, CONJUNTO, CONJUNTO. It is all about our cultura, it is simple music played con puro corazón. It connects us to our past, our history. It is a window that touches our soul. Many "Tejano Industry" websites have come and gone, but Conjunto is Life continues to grow because people are passionate about our musica alegre, there is no other feeling most people get when they hear an accordion and a bajo sexto. We do not try to promote only the music but also the culture behind the music. Our homies on Conjunto is life, are all Conjunto 4 life! As my friend Arturo Balderrama says "Can you imagine a world without PURO CONJUNTO? Gracias a Diosito we have CONJUNTO music!

SC: how has la onda changed since you were involved?

EP: People used to gather in big numbers to promote "Tejano Industry" music, which was really just Onda Chicana music, with brass and keyboards and no accordion. Later Mazz and others got smart and added the accordion. Now, you HAVE TO HAVE the accordion - even Little Joe said so! Luckily bands like Los Chamacos, Los Aguilares, and the Hometown boys helped keep Conjunto on mainstream "Tejano Industry" radio.

I think we are a bit spoiled here in that we don't like to pay too much for live music, so many bands go outside Texas to make good money. Look at what is going on in Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, etc people are crazy about CONJUNTO. There is no big money for most bands most of us do it cause we enjoy it, some bands limit themselves to what they know - small gigs, bars, cantinas, etc. Others have traveled overseas, got involved with social media, and are helping to promote our musica world wide. Technology is a great way to promote our music. We did not have that in the 90's. Now bands can produce their own CDs, they do not have to wait for a label to pick them up.

SC: why do think que many tejanos think que la onda tejana is only for us, tejanos and not so much for los mexicanos?

EP: That is one of the difficult aspects to address. I am proud to be Tejano, I am also proud of my grandparents from Guanajuato crossing into Texas in 1917 to make a better life. I do not discount my Mexican roots, it is just that the music I was raised with was CONJUNTO - Texas music - THE Tejano music. I love Mariachi music, but no music touches my heart more than CONJUNTO. Not only that, it has to have accordion and bajo sexto, otherwise I turn it off.

"Tejano Industy" music does nothing for me, and most of our members agree. There are many Mexicanos who enjoy "Tejano Industry" music and Conjunto music, I think that is great, but unless you know the story behind it , it is just nice music. We always need to tell OUR story, in Tex-Mex, which is OUR language. I understand that money is what pushes things, it just so happens that people who are away from their home country will pay big bucks to hear bands from Mexico, just like if I am a Tejano living in Canada, I would pay big bucks to hear Los Dos Gilbertos if they come to my town. It is the same thing. We need to be necios about Conjunto music. Mickey Mendoza and Arturo Balderrama are big promoters of that, and I hope CONJUNTO fans are listening!

SC: i noticed on your website you have el rancho alegia radio, how did you work that out ?

EP: I approached Rancho Alegre to provide a music player for our home page (El Cantón) I heard their music on their website, and I just asked that they provide puro CONJUNTO music.. They agreed since they also LOVE CONJUNTO music and have provided a great service for our members (homies). People have given a very positive response to the music. We now offer a music player for everyone, so all members can add their own music on their own pages!

Sc; what is in the future of conjunto is life?

EP: Wow, I would like to have live events sponsored by Conjunto is Life, I would like to offer our membership network to any non-profit who teaches, or promotes Conjunto music (Texas Folklife, Conjunto Heritage Taller, STCA, GCAC, NPCMA, etc) We need to work together, all bringing our different approaches but the same love of CONJUNTO music. Juan Tejeda said it best in a comment he wrote that we need to come together more than ever these days. That is true, sometimes there are egos that can get in the way, and sometimes that hinders us from being able to go forward.

My hope is that Conjunto is Life, will help promote and preserve CONJUNTO music for the next generations. I think it is great that people of all ages are getting into CONJUNTO Music, even youth are playing the squeezebox and forming bands. I will continue to use technology to promote CONJUNTO music and hopefully have some influence in that department.

SC; now Martin how about your muscial career sir, do you do much traveling con your band?

EP: We do not play very often but we have been blessed to play at some great venues, we are focusing right now on our 3rd CD. We enjoy venues where people appreciate, and want to learn more about CONJUNTO music. The band Los Padrinos, grew out of a love for CONJUNTO music, just like Conjunto is Life, the band is having fun just jamming and having a good time. As we say, the 3 most important things in life: Fe, Familia, y Tradición!

Sc; if you had the chance to speak to a group of young people what encouraging words would you tell them?

EP: I would tell them my own story, and fit it into the big story of Tejano history. I would not sugar coat the suffering many of our people experienced, I would give them a sense of what their ancestors went through, and how it should influence who we are today. I would explain why CONJUNTO music is not just any other folk music. I would want to instill in them pride in their roots, pride in their community, and pride in their history!

SC; and finally my friend what would you like to share with the world about yourself and conjunto is life?

MM: I have said a lot already...my real name is Martín de Jesús Martínez, born and raised in South Side San Anto, I am an educator and hope that my kids follow my love for our cultura. I hope everyone visits www.conjuntoislife.com. Hope to meet all of you soon! Dále Shine!

SC: well thanks again, sir can you help me on this bicycle and tell me how to get out of westside and onto the freeway?

MM: Sorry you have to leave so soon, just go up to that low rider next to the mural of Our Lady of Guadalupe and turn right, as soon as you pass Alfaro's Bail Bonds it is just over the train tracks...Peace

SC:hejola maybe next. nombre raza when will tejano die? Chinga never, i am santa cecilia la que te canta.

barrio stock market report for 02172012

barrio stock market report for 02172012.

Cchwnn.

Kingsville, tx. Hello raza its me Urbano Yosabatodo, counting  the pennies for the weekend has been a regular thing here. But that’s our problem, but for now let’s get to our award winning barrio stock market:

Los tamales are on the increase and the holidays season is not even here yet. Now more and more BARRIO folks  are worried about what happens to the economy when it comes time to buy tamales during the holiday season. Will we have a shortage - like flu vaccine? Probably not, but high prices will pinch and for sure we will see tamales go up to $7.00 per dozen in some parts of texas. But for the nation the price of tamales will sore up to $10.00 a dozens in some parts of the usa.

Los taqutios- Staying current on existing laws and recent legislation that affect the accounting and advising industries is very important in the hood. Los two vatos accounting has open its door here in the hood. It has taken the liberty to monitor los taqutios market for now. This is  just one of the insightful seminar topics Los two vatos accounting has to offer. Search by state to find upcoming accounting seminars scheduled to be held in your area. But for the mean time they say que los taquitos will remain stable for the rest of the fiscal year at $1.29 in some places and coffee is extra.

Empanadas-Our business value analysis includes an intensive examination of BARRIO STUFF, and the firm value, along con the  many valuation / appraisal services will use the cost, market, and income methods; discounted cash flow and/or a host of business ratios; and assessments of market position and niche, market share and presence, and even the contribution offered by the management team. With all this in mind las empanadas is the only barrio market that has shown a steady increase on the cost of each empanada, remain stable at 69 cent each, we will never ever see them again at four for a dollar.

Cheap beer, Cheap beer remains stable at $2.95 a six-pack. Regardless how a beer company designs the can it’s still good.

Las flour tortillas at a $1.29 a dozen. I am more than sure que there is lots of different companies that might be cheaper but since we are make believe we will not use any particular brands. Corn tortillas  remain stable.

La barbacoa by the pound is starting out at $6.00 lbs and make sure to ask que not too much salt or manteque.  In other words easy on the grease.

Barrio want ads: all items on sale.

Ok raza there you have it, have a great day and remember “If you can’t eat it don’t buy it…”

hejola report for 02162012

Hejola report for 03162012.

Cchwnn.

Kingsville,tx. Hello again como estan todos, and now for our award winning headline news:

Father forces daughter to step on roaches.

An increase of  bicycle drunk drivers.

And St. Patrick day parade cancelled.

It seemed que the pre St. Patrick day parade gathering turned out be a big ass brawl between our side Catholics and Catholics from across the tracks. At this point we are not sure what started the brawl but at least 7 of the 10 floats were damaged when los chingaso started. The fight was not limited to just the adults, the whole dang parade people all got into, and some say it could have been those clowns, which were dress like pilgrims, that might have started a fight con los little men dressed in little green suits. Charges will be filed.

This weekend was the worse we have seen in a few years says Benito Gomez, head of the director for bicycle licenses. Just in last few weeks we have sold over twenty bicycle permits to drive a bicycle on the street after the hour of 9:pm. But that’s not the problem, he told us, what is the problem is the number of BDWI. A total of 85 tickets and 20 bicycle permits have been suspended due to bicycle driving while intoxicated. The barrio leaders from both sides of the tracks will look into this matter.

It seem senseless when Pablo t. Gonzales was arrested Saturday morning after witness told police que they heard screaming and yelling from inside the Gonzales home early Saturday. So I called the police, says a witness of what she saw and heard as she walked passed their home. It seemed que el senor was teaching his daughter on how to kill roaches by either stepping on them or using a broom. The daughter didn’t want no part of it. Charges are pending .

Ok there you  have it for today and the rain is coming.

hejola report for 02132012

Hejola report for 02122012.

Cchwnn.

Kingsville,tx. Hello again I amm Bill Diaz con cpac hang over. I tried real hard this weekend to listen to and watch the cpac convention on tv. It didn’t last very long, my attention span is about 3 minutes. But it was enough for our award winning barrio headline news:

Barrio tax collector busted on sex charges.

Barrio 79 year old residents drowned.

And finally, barrio resident busted with 71 inch tv.

Henry Luna was arrested this morning around 3 am when he was spotted suspicion carring a 71 inch tv set on his handlebars. The officer on duty asked him where he got it from, and he replied que his girlfriend ran him off so he took his tv with him. Once the police contacted the man’s girlfriend she responded by saying Henry who? Charges will be filed against him for stealing.

In other news, This past weekend the constable found the body of a barrio 79 year old resident who had drowned a few months ago after he had heard enough of the world coming to an end. Martin Martin left a note inside his shirt telling us the reason why he had done this. But since the shirt had been in the water so long no one could read the message he gave. But did find evidence that he believe the world was coming to an end when the police visited him home and he had already packed his stuff maker good will.

Yesterday el constable cadena and some real cops from across the tracks arrested the ex- barrio tax collector for not collecting taxes but instead exchanged for sex and methamphetamine. He was taken to jail in his nasty g string and was not give a towel when he was escorted to the police car late last night. Some of the barrio residents claim que they had seen that g somewhere. Charges will be filed.

Ok raza have a great day.

why 2012

cchwnn: exclusive report by daniel lope
NOW LETs address all the why's in this world.
why would you want to write about all the whys in the world? i am sure we can add to your list of whys that need our WHY attention.
i am more than sure que many of us can relate to some of the questions asked con the word why. but can we relate to the message that is stands behind all this why's.
so just for the record here are our top ten answers to some of the why's?
1.Why casual attire has replaced professional attire? because you are the boss now.
2.Why Radio and TV has become so distasteful?
because we are listening to am radio again.
3.Why rumors spread so quick yet the truth is stopped dead in its tracks?
because i started them rumors.
3.(notice we have two number three why) Why you wake up so early on the weekends but you can’t wake up early enough to get to work on time?
because i didnt even go to bed at all friday night.
4.Why there is so much hate in our own communities when our country is at war with other countries and natural disasters are becoming so prevalent?
because it hasnt hit home yet.
5. Why people insist you become a “born again” christian when they need fixing themselves?
because they dont realize que god never left them. its like a very expensive watch i lost in my room. i know its in my rooms somewhere but just cant find it. the lord never leaves a person its that we just havent looked for it lately.
6.Why greed takes over with the passing of a loved one?
maybe because we didnt have any until it passed away.
7.Why women have become so aggressive and so un-lady like?
because they watch wrestling more.
8. Why I insist on contributing when the audience is so silent..... Where are all the Tejano artists, musicians, and fans......?
because many of us were born to lead and not following. based on the old oxford english dictornary: it only takes two to make things happen and follow an idea. its like a gang, if two or more have the same idea and believe in the same idea then we are a gang, a gang of tejanos.
9.why the threat levels keep elevating, yet we can’t man our borders.
easy our standard keep on going up. we cant stop till we get enough and no border will ever stop us for accomplishing that.
and the 10. reason why:
Why people won’t stop buying gas guzzling SUV’s when the price of gas keeps going higher and higher?
because i dont know what a SUV is i drive a 1978 red ford whatever with red letters painted on that say :volunteer.
ok there we have it raza, HAVE A GREAT DAY. with due respect.

Hejola report for 02092012.
Cchwnn.
Kingsville,tx. Hi bill diaz here con today’s award winning barrio headline news:
The world is ending arrested.
The same old song at the same old place.
And finally, barrio tejanos protest our report.
Yesterday a ton of folks, 3 big women, 2 large men, 7 cats, 34 dogs, and a few roaches were protesting our barrio command post on how awful our posting have been about tejano movement and its leaders. Our leader told the ton of folks que we can only write what we see and we couldn’t make chit up if we wanted to. Look tejano’s are doing a dam good job all by themselves on explaining the present problem con la onda and not being recognized but major outlets. Once our creator spoke and gave out some refreshments the protestors left the area in disarray.
Yesterday another handful of tejano’s told another group of tejanos that we were at a standstill con the movement of tejano industry and its future. A few persons present at the meeting were more concern con the refreshments and the free entertainment being offered. Once the music died down and drank all the diet drinks many of the tejano’s left the meeting. The organizers told us que they were happy with the turn out and more impress on how all the refreshments were gone before the meeting ended. We have lots of big ideas that we want to share with no one, says one of the tejano’s present at the meeting. We asked that tejano how are we suppose to know the ideas you have if you don’t share them? They responded by saying that’s their problem. Ok.
Yesterday a handful of want to be tejano fans were arrested after they printed out more than three leaflets telling tejano fans que the world was coming to an end. After el constable along con some medical staff from lalaland arrested that handful of tejano’s with false accusation and were shipped off to the lalala home across the tracks. The constable tells us que a the only world that is going to end is your world when you die.
Ok raza, tejano’s , gringitos, amigos, vatos, esa have a great tejano day if you can. Hug a tejano fan.

Hejolia report for 02072012.
Cchwnn.
Kingsville,tx. Hello raza I am bill diaz and glad to be back. An now our award winning barrio headline news:

Campaign funds come to sag for barrio candidate.
Drug round up comes up short.
And finally, tejano dance ends with big fight.
Right before the third intermission some of the tejano fans at the only tejano gay bar, two tons of fun, were upset with the house band for taking some many breaks. Dang man, says John Deleon Gomez, how many breaks them dudes going to take. A fight broke out when one of the customers threw a plastic blue bottle at one of the band members that caused the whole place to explode into a big fight. Tables and chairs and bottles and boots and shoes, and some lemons were thrown among the folks. A shit load of folks were arrested along con ten band members.

El constable along con some cops from across the tracks tried to round up as many drug dealer, users, thinkers, athletic supporters, womanizers, taco eaters, beer drinkers, chickens, dogs, cats, and anything that looked illegal. Heck says one barrio resident that they even tried to take my house for sale sign. All and all at least twenty persons and things were taken in for questioning. El constable told us que them dudes will be back.

Yesterday Esta Vato loco campaign drives came to sag when it was found out that some of the funds he had received were donations from recycle cans that were stolen a few years back. The barrio election commission told this reported that the funds were sold as stolen items. Most of the money has been returned for expect $25.00 dollars still not accounted for. ESTA VATO LOCO told a crowd of his supporters que onda con la lana, hey raza don’t make me look bad, I don’t need any help .

super bowl conspiracy 2012

Super bowl conspiracy 2012.
Cchwnn.
Kingsville,tx. Hello Frankie tuxedo Zuniga, super bowl conspiracy, 2012.
Don’t you think que a professional quarterback who knows better who have taken a dive with the first play of the game in this past 2012 super bowl. Many here in the hood lost chingos de money on that one freaky play. Yea that’s right on that one freaking play you know how many lost and how many more won money on that play. We are going to investigate this matter by sending our own private el ojo barrio private to do the number count and check to see if that quarterback did take a dive. Huh. It makes you wonder, how that could be done on such an important game and time? We want to know.

hejola report for 02062012

Hejola report for 02062012.
Cchwnn.
Kingsville, tx. Hello Frankie tuxedo Zuniga con today’s award winning barrio headline news:
Chingo de chingaso after super bowl party.
La commadre wins barrio super bowl football pot.
And finally, just say no.

Yesterday at the corner of third and wells a group of men and women and some dogs and cats, gather to protest this year’s super bowl advertising spots. They claim que they showed too much skin, abused dogs, and did lots of drinking from some blue bottle. The group leader, told us que this type of advertising just spoils the children and men and women relationships. Look how many men and women do we know that look like them folks on the tv advertising? Maybe just one, the dog. No charges will be filed for blocking the traffic for about two hours. Oh by the way about three cars were effect by this standoff.
All right, la commadre Nancy Garza was this year’s barrio super bowl football pot winner when she predicted, the right finally score for yesterdays super bowl game. This annual event always seems to cause trouble for el constable since he is the one selling the pot numbers. This year he will not arrest anyone of the winners like years before. Esta vato, the constable, has arrested the last three years winner for gambling and not required to pay off the football pot. But this year he promised the majority of the pot goers that he was not going to arrest anyone this year. Chinga.

Yesterday at least twenty-five cowboy fans attended a super bowl party thinking the cowboys were playing in this year’s super bowl. Once they arrived at their normal hangout, they found at least thirty giant and the other team fans had taken there spot. Well before you know it chingo de chingaso were delivered and when the dust settled them boyz were haul off to jail. Charges will be filed against five cowboy fans, three giants fans, and one laker fan .
Ok raza got to go .
