exclusive interview con ben ozuna, 2012

Exclusive interview con Ben Ozuna, vocalist, 2012.

Cchwnn.

In front of Woolworths, san anto, texas. Hello raza, I am santa Cecilia la que te canta, con on the road again interview. Raza if you only knew how political it has been the last few days. But for now we are here with a very handsome young man named Ben Ozuna, vocalist, and has allowed us to interview him. So here we go.

Sc: hi, handsome can you give me a big Tejano hand off this bicycle?

Bo: 1. Definitely! Give me your hand and I’ll help you off.

Sc; first Ben how did you get into the music business and how long have you been singing Tejano?

BO; 2. I started in the music business when I was 16 years old.  My uncle was in

High School and had a tejano band.  I would go to his house and watch the band

practice every week.  I convinced him to let me sing with them at a cousin’s

quinceaƱera and that is where it all began.  I have sung in mariachi bands and

tejano bands since then, which would make it about 13 years that I have been

singing.

SC: I am sure that when you were younger, did you ever see yourself singing for David Lee Garza band and how in the world did you manage to get hired?

Bo: 3. It’s funny that you ask that question. When I was younger, my little brother and I would go to our Uncle Ben’s house, the same uncle whose band I sang in when I was 16, and pretend to be David Lee Garza y Los Musicales and other bands.  We were about 10 to 12 years old at the time and we would play their music on the stereo and lip sync to it.  Haha, I would pretend to be Emilio. Those were the good ol’ days! I always wanted to be Los Musicales’ front man, but I honestly never thought it would become a reality. I didn’t have plans on

moving from my hometown, Midland, and Icertainly didn’t think I would be considered if I had tried out. It turned out that one day I decided to move to San Antonio to pursue a singing career in July of 2010. It also so happened to

be that David was looking for a new front man. So, I sent him a demo and he

called me back.

Sc; what difficulties did you encounter when you recorded the latest cd con David Lee “ y ahora aqui”,compared to other recording you might have done in your career?

BO; 4. I have to say that recording “Y ahora aquĆ” wasn’t as difficult as I thought

it was going to be.  I had a few weeks to learn the songs and David and Gilbert Velasquez were there to help guide me throughout the process as well.  If anything, I had a hard time with phrasing on one of the songs.  To me it felt

like a tongue twister.  I made sure that we recorded that one last lol. Other than that, I was very comfortable in the studio.  Gilbert is very professional. I learned that if you follow his lead and do what he asks, all will be ok.

SC : I don’t you know if you realize that when you posted some comments on Tejano journal about your performance, lots of tjers were very impress with you coming on board and posting comments. It seems that you are a very humble person, Do you plan to continue sharing your views on la onda and your personal career?

BO; 5. Thank you!  I didn’t know about the Tejano Journal until a friend of mine

told me about it a year ago.  Since then, I periodically check in to see what is

going on en la onda tejana. I see lots of great discussion on the state of our

genre and its future. I also see lots of great ideas as far as how we can build

on the genre and make it better.  I didn’t post before because it was nice to

just sit back and read people’s opinions on different subjects.  I felt it was

necessary to post this time, to let everyone know that I appreciate them as fans

and I respect their opinions. I’m glad that the Tejano Journalers, if that is a

word lol, appreciated my post. Now that I have a handle, or username, I think I

will pop in more often and post.

Sc; I am sure that you do realize that David lee has introduced some top notch Tejano singer, do you think one day you will also be consider a top Tejano singer, if you are not already and how hard is it to fill those shoes?

Bo: 6. Yes, David Lee y Los Musicales are definitely known for their singers.  Growing up, and still to this day, I listen to Emilio, Ram, Jay, Oscar G., Marcos, Mark, and Joey.  David Lee has most certainly given us Tejanos talented vocalists who are still coming out with great hits today on their own. I think the mere fact that I am actually singing with Los Musicales is an honor. To be able to share a stage with David Lee y los Musicales is a fantastic feeling.  I know I have big shoes to fill, and I don’t let that pressure me.  Each person leaves behind their own legacy and I don’t want to build on anyone else’s.  I believe that as long as I give my absolute best and stay true to myself, the rest will follow.

Sc; if given a chance to speak with a group of young people what encouraging words would you shares them?

Bo: 7. That’s a good question. I am lucky enough to speak to young people every day.

I am a 3rd grade teacher and I make sure to let my students know that education is a must! I try to instill in them the desire to set a goal and to reach it. I make sure that they know they can do anything they set their mind to, but I stress the importance of getting an education first. I want all of my students and all young people to get a college education. I tell them that it will be the best time of their lives.

SC: and finally Mister, what would like to share with the world on la onda Tejana matter?

Bo: 8. I would like the world to know that Tejano is a force to be reckoned with.  I see more and more young people enjoying our music and especially playing it. This year at fan fair, there were so many fresh faces and new bands. I think Tejano is a very flexible genre.  We Tejanos are pretty open minded to things, and that is what makes our music so great.  I have a feeling that our future is going to be phenomenal and I can’t wait to be a part of that.

SC: gee big guy it’s been pleasure to have met you and handsome can you give me a big Tejano hand on this bicycle and point south hwy, 281 for me?

BO: 9. Thank you Santa Cecilia! By the way, did you know that you are the Patron saint of Music? You probably did huh? Lol .  Thank you for the interview.  It was nice to meet you.  Yes, 281 is that way. If you see the airport, you are close. Lol.  Safe travels.

Sc: yes dear thanks to my agent Melissa.

SC: gee its nice to see a real humble person that might just be the next super Tejano star, orally, I am santa Cecilia. Good day.

barrio stock market report for 03302012

barrio stock market report for 03302012.

cchwnn.

Kingsville,tx. Hello once again como estan I am urbano yosabatodo con this week’s barrio stock market report.

First of all on the serious note, barrio stock market report is on its eight year providing raza consumers con the best darn investment information available on the barrio net for barrio folks.

For real folks, we assure you que your investments is our barrio concern, but always remember, our slogan “if you can’t eat it don’t buy it….”.Now for that barrio stock market report:

Los tamales: First and foremost, los tamales market is a completely independent market that is monitor by the two ways, a person who can buy or make them yourself or a home or buys them at a major chain store.

Los tamales, "Business in most hoods or barrios continued to express concern over the rising costs of masa and other stuff you use to make them," the report said, although tamale brokers say que manufacturers and business service providers were able to pass along "part -- if not all -- of these cost increases along to their customers, si that’s you and me. And since a lot of holidays are just around the corner we do encourage folks to buy them now at a reasonable price and not wait for the projected increase coming in a few weeks. Tamales remain stable at $5.50 a dozen. Nobody cares more about your wealth and the future of your interest in buying and eating tamales then we do here and you there. .

Los taquitos: Los taquitos , The high price of taquitos we noticed this week is due to the fact que el barrio inflation has increased by at least 20 percent for the end of this quarter compared to last year. The report published by los dos brother lopez associates a few weeks ago, suggested que an increases in wages for some and very few for others, that more and more barrio folks will be eating at home for sure, and we will see a decrease on retail prices "generally speaking they will subdued," the lopez report said. At this time taquitos remain $1.35  each , cup of coffee is extra. By the way how many refills can a person get anyhow?

Las empanadas: currently, las empanada makers are going to be required only to product-limited amounts due the high prices of pumpkins, sweet potatoes and pineapples. In addition our empanada war of 2006 has made some major chances con esto companies here in the hood.

Last fall, Consumers were very patient along con some advocacy groups increased pressure on trying to bring empandes down to four for a dollar, and more filling in them. Which both you and I know they won’t happen. The price of empanadas is $.89 cents each, and will remain stable for the rest of this quarter.

Cheap beer: cheap beer went down a bit this past week. We found singles at the lowest yet this year, $.79 cent each. Six-packs remain stable at $2.95 a six pack. Real beer just above, $5.50 a six pack.

La barbacoa de cavesa: La barbacoa de cavesa has done real good here in the last few weeks. It seems que its has not taken the challenge serious this year from those darn llama growers. Now for la raza that own livestock, they won’t worry too much, since the production on llamas meat won’t start effect them soon. One vato says que it will take several years before, if not longer que la llama meat has an impact in the hood. La barbacoa de cavesa ended the week at all time high $6.00 lb.

Barrio want ads:

M/0303d45 lost two tires while car was parked. Small reward for returns or better offer.

M/0306e46 small birds and small squires for sale. Come by and horn one long honk. Real cheap, you name price. Don’t tell anybody if you came by, ok, and make sure it’s one long honk.

M/0306t38 nice set of used furniture, several chairs and large sofas. Have been sitting out side less than a year. Still look good if not frames can be reused. Will take best offer or trade for goats or sheep and a few chickens. No llamas.

Well folks its time to get those garage sales signs up and we are encouraging those that stopped selling stuff to bring them out and lets get to it.

Thanks raza, if you drink do drive and if you don’t drink maybe you should.

exclusive interview con dave biondi bnetradio 2012

Exclusive interview with Dave Biondi, BNetRadio, 2012.

Cchwnn.

Houston, texas. Hello raza I am santa Cecilia la que te canta con on the road again interview. This afternoon I was able to upgrade our bicycle by adding a couple of balloons to the rear bicycle tire, which made our trip to Houston much faster. We are here this afternoon sitting next to a Roach Coach enjoying lunch con Dave Biondi, BNetRadio. So let us get to that interview.

Sc; hello Dave, say big boy can you give us a hand off this hot bicycle, so what do you think about our new addition to the bike?

DB: The Duct Tape adds a bit of flair to the contraption. Glad you made it OK. Why is the back wheel smoking?

SC: first tell a little bit on how BNetRadio came about and how difficult has it been keeping on line?

DB; It evolved from Bandido Radio, started by Gordy “Boogieman” Rodriguez and “Jumpin’“ Jess Rodriguez. I helped them put their dreams into the programming, hardware and software that made it happen. Due to legal issues and financial problems, I ‘inherited’ the station. The road to today has had its bumps and funding in the past few years was difficult. I re-mortgaged my home to keep it on and would up losing the home of 28 years when I had to use income from my broadcast engineering business to keep the station on.

SC: I noticed that BNet has array of different programming, in doing this sir does it help in attracting different type of radio sponsor and help the cost of running such a company?

DB: Only in the past few months, has the advertising begun to pay the overhead. Advertisers are just beginning to accept internet radio as a viable promotional tool.

Our programming is based on the Top 40 format of the 60s and 70s adapted to the genres within the Tejano music spectrum. It appeals to a much broader base of listeners than most stations using the definition of Tejano.. I believe that most Tejanos like a broad base of music and it seems to be working. We have a defined music rotation and all the DJs must adhere to it. It has created an overall ‘image’ for the station. Our staff is not there to play what they want, they play what the audience craves.

SC: in keep with the la onda tejana, I am sure you are aware that there are a numerous of organization throughout the united states now working and trying to keep la onda alive,. In your opinion, are these groups really concern con the future of Tejano music or are some just in it for the money to be made from the Tejano industry?

DB; While the concept of most of these organizations is in the best interest of Tejano music, some of the folks involved are there for the wrong reasons. Sincere hard working folks are hard to find and some are just there to see what the organization can do for them, not the genre. There has been much good done by some of them, but there is always politics and power plays that eventually run many of the good folks off leaving a wounded organization. Some ‘Do Gooders’ feel that they will be known as ‘The Hero” that ‘fixed’ Tejano music. Tejano music is not broken. Selfishness, greed and ego keep pulling it down. NO ONE PERSON is gonna make it flourish.

It will take a great amount of teamwork from a lot of great people that accept the challenge and do it humbly.

SC: this year’s fanfare held in San Antonio, and like usually, a panel session was held to discuss Tejano matters. Have you ever been invited to be on a panel and if you have, what expectations did you expect from such a group to address and accomplish?

DB: I was proud to serve on several panels over the years and attended several others. While, in most, the problems were well defined, but there wasn’t much ‘meat’ offered to address improving the problems.

SC: a few days ago we were able to interview a gentlemen by the name of Roy Ramos, aka el viejito, whom I think you know him personally. Now the issue that came up doing this interview and believe I really feel que we need to address this issue, he told us  that your BNET RADIO owes him money from  some years ago that he lend you. Would you be willing to address this matter?

DB; Once when we were in desperate financial times, I was speaking with Roy on the phone, as we often did, about the need to pay a vital bill to keep on the air. He graciously volunteered to loan me the money ($600 as I recall). I told him that it would take a while to pay him back and he was ok with that. When repayment went longer than I had promised, I called him and said it would be a bit longer. He said “consider it a donation”.

The next year at one of the forums, I was not asked to participate and when a list of internet stations was passed out to the crowd, BNetRadio was not included. I still had no idea there was a problem.

Before the forum was held at the Tejano Music Awards/Tejano Music Convention in SA I received a copy of an email that had been sent by him to the panel members stating that there would be NO MENTION in the discussion of BNetRadio.

I called him to see why and he said, to my surprise, that it was because of the money. I said that I would put the money together and repay him ASAP. He said “ I don’t think I even want to accept it now”. I told him that I didn’t think that because he had an issue with me, personally, that I didn’t think it was ethical and in the best interest of the industry to use his ‘position’ to BLACKBALL BNetRadio.

I hate ‘he said then he said’ things like this, but that’s the way I heard it.

SC: in trying to keep it a simple as possible why would you think Mr. Ramos would bring this up on to the us when he knew this was going to be posted on different public forums?

DB; Not sure, but again, the money issue is between him and me. I have the money now to send him and if he will let me know the full amount that he feels is due and where to send it and that he will accept it and move on, I will be happy to get past this impasse.

SC: do you have any bad feels about Mr. Ramos?

DB: Life is too short to retain bad will towards anyone.

SC : in the past I have listen to your programming and your listening  audience is really worldwide, I know as a fact that our troops that are station overseas that listen to Tejano for sure tune in to your program BNet. Do think issue and matter like what we just talked about discredit your organization?

DB: We are fortunate to have a large US audience and the support of the military and many soldiers stationed around the World are regular listeners.

I have no Idea what motivation he had, but can se no positive value in exposing a personal matter to the masses.

SC: what changes have you had to deal with since you became President and CEO BnetRadio 2000,  from your original internet radio programming, if any?

DB: BNetRadio is actually 2 radio stations. While the Tejano station has a massive audience (approaching 200,00 daily), we had the Top 40 station on since 1999. I never promoted it as much as the Tejano and it still has an daily audience of around 20,000.

The name change of the Tejano station came around 2002 and my corporations total ownership was a few months later. There were some DJs that left when I took the reins, but several stayed. And have been loyal since. As we have all volunteer DJs, anytime someone new comes on it requires a lot of training on formatics, technical issues and controlling ego.

Sc; sir if you were asked to talk to a group of young people interested in seeking a career in radio, what encourage words would you use?

DB; Careers in radio are tough to be successful and require a drive, passion and sacrifice that most would think are irrational and insane in today’s society. If you can’t deal with that, you shouldn’t even try.

SC: I have been told that I am too easy on people that are in charge of certain program and organization deal with la onda tejana when we conduct our interviews,  in some cases we have been called an idiot when conducting interview (lol) do you feel that there isn’t enough honesty within the so call  Tejano leaders and their real intentions?

DB: While many leaders in Onda Tejana are the real thing, many are misunderstood and some are just not what they appear or profess to be.

SC; any finally do you have anything to share with your world wide fans?

DB: We are grateful to the Fans, artists and advertisers for getting us this far. The best is yet to come.

Tejano Music Lives….On BNetRadio!

SC: Dave let me thank you for buying this (taco) and I think 10 of then is  more than enough, and give me a hand back on this bicycle and point to sugarland, please?

DB: Thank you for the opportunity. Here’s a couple Zantac to settle your stomach. Put the bike on GPS autopilot and be safe on the road. I know a good bail bondsman if you need it.

SC: as I leave this place I am feeling better than ever, I am santa Cecilia, good day.

exclusvie interview con roy el viejito ramos, 2012

Exclusive interview con Roy "El Viejito" Ramos, con  Tejano Music Network Forum which was held on Saturday morning at Cattleman's Square March 17, 2012.

Cchwnn.

Somewhere between Premont and Alice Texas on hwy 281. Hello again, I am Santa Cecilia la que te canta, con a follow up interview with Roy Ramos, a good friend and his views on the Tejano Forum held Saturday march 17, 2012, en san anto. Let us get to that interview.

Sc; hello, Mr. V. can you give me a hand off this bicycle sir?

Rr: Qvole Santy, here allow me to lift this leg and ...WOW ..opps sorry. Ok there you go.

Sc; easy boy that a little too much help, you know Roy, this interview is going to be tuff on you and your network position on several matters?

Rr; Oh ? Hey listen, I am proud to say that I own no one in this genre anything and this genre owes me nothing except for a internet radio station in Houston that I loan money to to get them back on the air.

Without me lending Bnut the money he would not of had been able to boardcast for I don't know how long. By the way, that loan happened back in 2008 and to this day not a penny has been repaid , just a phone call from him saying that I was a man of no class and that the Tejano Music Network was doing more harm to Tejano music than helping, go fiqure...

The last forum he attended was in 2009 when in front of other people he quranteed repayment..So with this out ask me anything and I will not sugar coat any answer.

Sc: We do listen to that station once an a while, and now you make us wonder  why you have not been on station lately like before?

Rr: I will only add this to what I just said, I have my bank statement as to how many hundreds I paid to their  phone company and it's not under 600.00. There are people that will post how dare you post that kind of information. Well I lost the money they didn't and just last year on the journal people were wanting to name all the crooked promoters and managers and others hurting la onda, well I just gave a reason why I sometime distrust people en la onda.  Let's move on, it will only get uglier

Sc: OK, let us start off on how organized do you think fanfare was compared to prevents years?

Rr; I have been attending TTMA Fan Fair for over 25 years. I thoughts are that this event should of had been moved away from Market Square years ago. I believe that the prices for the food is way over priced.

Listen when a vendor is offering one taco with two ounces of trips with a hint of hot sauce for 5.00 each. The price of the tripa is $.10 retail price and the tortilla is 10.5 cents figure the markup. The drinks, look at the cost and mark up, if this event was being held at Cowboy stadium than I can understand the price goughing, but if I am having to walk through paddles of piss and beer and water and playing bumper people as I get to one end to another and the band schedule changes on the day that the bands are to perform than this is not the event for me.

The sound enginneers and the so call professional stage managers need to go. I keep hearing that the TTMA is being run as a 501c organization, if this is the case where does all the monies go to and why do the two gentlemen running this organization have a problem with opening the books, and who makes up the board of directors?

In my opinion, and yes Santy we all have opinions as we all have a butt. I for one say bring back Rudy Trevino and lets elect a real board of directors open up the financial books, and  have open door meetings and not only one meeting at the Mariachi Bar, and let's get this event back to it's glory days. Again, if it's a 501c organization then run it as such.

Sc; I noticed a posting you did on Tejano journal about an article on the Amercian Stateman by Juan Castillo on Tejano, do you think his article did any justice to la onda tejana?

Rr: Did it do Justice, Why hell yeah it did justice. Listen I say kudos to the organizers of this event Crossroads Events for putting Tejano in the limelight during one of the biggest music festival in the world. I don't remember hearing of any San Antonio city official taking the stage at the TTMA Fan Fair. The only involvement I saw from the city of San Antonio was from the SAPD handing out parking tickets.

Sc; let us talk about the Tejano forum you were involved with, first off all how do you guys select panel members and who has the final say?

Rr: Every year I first select a moderator with some help and input from staff members, we then get the selected moderator involved in selecting the panelist. This year our panelist was Manny El Picante Garcia with www.Picanteradio.com this was Manny’s second time around as a moderator. It was not hard for us to pick Manny; he is one of the most professional Mc's and on-air personalities in our genre.

The panelist are selected by their involvement in la onda Tejana and what each brings to the table as Mel Mad Dawg Duran with Bnetradio, after having shared a conversation with him one day and me not knowing he came from Califas and liking what he was saying I decided he had to be a panelist we asked he accepted and we go on and continue our selections.

SC: do you think this year’s panel addressed issues, besides the main topic that was selected “ internet radio” and were they able to set any goals for la onda years to come?

Rr; Every year we discuss the top issues that burden our onda and every year’s goal are set  and believe it or not some goals are met.

Listen if you ask anyone and not any borracho with a tear in their beer, that is really passionate about nuestra onda they will share their thoughts on their views as to how nuestra onda is or isn't progressing.

Goals, I have seen more internet radio station programming, I see more Tejano events taking place throughout the United States, and I see more of our brothers across the Rio Grande being involved with our music.

Look at this year’s forum we www.allstarradio.com broadcast our forum without asking us if they could we were blessed to have them Juan Carlos is a Mexican national with more knowledge than some of us....Go Figure...

Sc; I am one of a few that address this topic but in our own satire matter, is there an animosity towards our news  cchwnn on the way we cover such events now and maybe in the future?

Rr; None what so ever.. dale gas to all at CCHWNN.......To me you guys are the chicano looney tunes.

Sc: that is funny, we sometime find ourselves on opposites sides on issues with a few Tejano leaders, do you think it’s fair to say que some of our so called leaders aren’t address issues that should we have, such as but not limited to security for bands, more benefits for band members, life insurances, etcc?

Rr; Why are you asking me these questions ? These are the questions that should be addressed by TTMA and The Tejano Academy. I understand that the Academy was set up to benefit our artist.

Here again, just my inside thoughts, Wouldn't it be nice to have a organization that would help our artist in time of need like sickness and death? How many artist have deceased and gone to music heaven broke leaving there families to ponder how they are going pay for hospital bills and funeral services ? All these promoters having these festivals and concerts claiming monies is going for scholarships. Questions how many scholarships have been given out?

Sc; in your observation do you think the panel were asked questions by the audiences that might have immediate solutions and what were some concerns brought up?

Rr: The major concern again was directed toward the TTMA , why does the TTMA limit the involvement of other internetradio stations and Tejano organization's from participating at Fan Fair. This year with the help of our friend Margo Morones he was able to get a commitment from Robert and Frank w/ TTMA to allow other dj's to introduce bands.

I thought that Pete Arias w/ www.bestonlineradio.com made the most impact when addressing corporate advertising dollars. We came out agreeing that we make corporate VP's aware that we Tejano's are the ones buying the new Fords, Chevy's, Chrysler, and Cadilacs and so on, and our main products. None of my money I make and spend is going back into Mexico. So why is it so hard for corporate to see that we Tejano's want our music heard on the FM dail other then in San Antonio and the valley and pan handle.

Wake up Mexican Americans !

Sc; that was very interesting, I think I can do a followup on that, it seems that at  last year  Tejano convention  a slogan was created “ the wheel is broken”, do you think that things have made some improvement from last year’s discussions?

Rr; Some might say yes. In reality we still have a long way to go .

Sc; as you mention before about internet radio involvement,  was there a live broadcasting on the panel discussion?

Rr:  YUPP,  Gracias to our friends at www.allstarradio.com in the valley for stepping up to the plate and hitting a homerun for us.

Sc; did the event in Austin have any kind of positive impact on this year’s fanfare, and its programming/

Rr; nope....NADA.......Gotta remember about  70% of the people attending fan fair are from San Antonio and surrounding towns. And if they tell you different they speak with fork tongue. There were no hotels in San Antonio due to spring break and SXSW. If anyone took time to go down the river walk you saw nothing but spring breakers that decided not to go down to the border .

Sc; we feel that there is more going on for la onda than ever before, in your opinion do you think la onda is recording more and producing more than before? And if you do, can you give us a few examples?

Rr; Yes there are more recording being done some very good recording this year came from Jesse Lopez - Raices, Elida Reyna y Avante( this girl is close to going international watch for this artist to get us back on the charts) Johnny Hernandez, Joe Bravo, I'm sure there are more but did not catch my attention, but again who am I ?

Sc: gee roy you are getting to sound like us,  on line radio station are on the increase, plus lots of Tejano websites have either add music to them, or are doing their own thing now, do you think we are move away from the stalemate we have found ourselves in a few years ago ?

Rr: Absolutly, I say "Keep our Music Playing "

Sc; i had a very interesting interview with Frank Salazar about fanfare and its programming. I am sure you know Frank, if you read that interview, what was your opinion on franks position on certain matters that we addressed?

Rr; I thought the interview was lame, he should have been asked questions I brought up in my interview. You should have had me or the Chicano interviewer by the name of "El Masqulero" conduct the interview.

Sc;  hey that is something we can work on EL MASQUELERO, do you think there is a power struggle within la onda tejana?

Rr; Power struggle?  Listen, what's to struggle for ? Make the next forum in Austin. Since Cattleman's is going away next year we are moving the forums to Austin. We're hoping for one this summer.

SC: and finally Mr. Ramos, what was your overall view about fanfare and this year’s panel discuss?

Ten chickens and five turkeys terrorize birthday party.
Three women arrested at spring break barrio party for throwing a box of tampons at security guard.
And finally la comadre me puso el dedo, says Frankie Luz.
It seems que one of el compadres comadres called the cops on him, thinking she hear someone breaking into his home, who lives next door to her. Once el ojo barrio security force 666 answer the call, they promptly went over to el compadres home and found the back door open. Once inside the security force found  chingos de marijuana growing in backyard and inside of his home. No charges have been filed yet but depending on how good the weed is, or worth, or something.
El  barrio security force 666, arrested three barrio women at this past weekend spring fling held at el chicano park. It seems que Nora, Norma, y Noelia Martinez got a bit too wasted and we asked to leave the park, as they were leaving the park one of the drunk women threw an unopened box of tampons at one of the barrio security force 666 members, as they drove out of the park. All three women were arrested for P.I., DWI, FEAS, and TRYING TO HARM A PEACE OFFICERS. CHARGES WILL BE FILED.
And finally, Having live chickens and turkeys at an adult birthday party wasn’t a good idea after all. La familia Gomez felt que having this extra activity for adults and children to chase around would look like lots of fun, until the chickens and the turkeys held their ground and started chasing the party goers around the back and front yard. Since the constable was not working this week, they, the party goers had to shoot all ten chickens and all five turkeys. The good thing was that they were able to cook most of them  that afternoon.  No injuries to the real folks.
There you have it and have a great tejano day.

misconception of tejano music, 2012

Misconception of Tejano music.

Cchwnn.

Kingsville,tx. Hello again I am Santa Cecilia la que te canta. I am here to try and focus on the misconceptions many have or not know about la onda tejana music. What is about la onda industry que many of tejanos in general are standing on the sideline assumed they understand how it works? Do many tejanos think it’s easy from the outside looking in? or are we blinded by listening and reading and watch other tejanos that actually think they understand the ins and outs enough to pursue the discussion further than others have gone before?

I am sure. That I am  the first to say que our creator has some ideas of what others tell him what they know and think they know about la onda. But We here do understand and we here also might be those that we address as a person who is on the sideline thinking they know the facts and the reasons and solutions to this phenomenon. But sadly we understand que we are wrong in many ways. Really we are, and here is how we came to this conclusion:

It’s a fact that we never leave our home after 8pm regardless what day it is.

It’s a fact que our creator doesn’t watch tv and even if he wanted, he couldn’t because we don’t have cable, my god how many times can a  person watch RANGO DVD IN A WEEK? Answer chingos.

Its fact que he can’t down load music nevertheless listen to it on the line because we don’t have internet at home.

It’s  fact que his radio can only get a few if any at all radio program, in which the majority of the stations that he does listen are Christian station, in which we pray god forgives!

It’s a fact que all the people que we interview and talk to too on line, we have never met, probably never will.

It’s a fact que he hasn’t gone to a public dance since last year where his fund raiser turned out to be a disaster, and ruin his career in trying to keep his father and mother scholarship above water.  Which we still owe money to some of the performers.

So it’s easy to say by reading this paper que he don’t know chit about anything nevertheless la onda and how it works.  But we do know que he know that many have benefited, taken advantage, profit, assisted, helped, do good to,  from la onda.

And it’s easy to say que he does know que fundraiser, charity performances, and other organization have collected monies at the cost de la onda. I am sure he knows que those organization, and some other provisions are needed in making many things happen in hood with the help from la onda.

Now the tolerant attitude and the willingness to judge la onda is really unfair. But the impartial love that many have for la onda will always prevail.  So its easy to say the misconception of  la onda Tejano really lies on the believes that la onda will die one day, which I am sure it won’t as long as we have all of the above and all yet more to come, for the sake of salvaging la onda in its own little ways and those that benefiting from it.

But than what do we know , we are just make believe.

Tortillas ended the week at $1.10 a dozen.

Los taquitos:  well folks we were surprise this morning when we ate at la commadres grill. It seems que we didn’t have to pay for our meal this morning due to que la commadre wanted us to mention her name on our report. Well raza we do encourage every single one of you that can read and understand this report que your local barrio restaurant owners need your business. So stop eating at those major chain restaurants and bring your business closer to home. Taquitos going at $1.45 each and in some cases two for one in larger cities.

Los tamales: los tamales took a drop on price this week. Since the weather is warming up a bit, many barrio consumers find it hard to eat those tamales on very warm days. Now is the time to buy and freeze says Manuel Gonzales a tamale broker. Los tamales going at $5.00 a dozen, buy raza, buy.

Las empanadas: for many las empanadas comes in at least three favors, but our sources say que there might be a very very very very small change que the price will go down this week sometime. Barrio consumer groups tell us que they have being asking around and since we do report on las empanadas many dealers are willing to lower the price just for us to get off their case. Las empanadas at stable at .89 cent each with no sign of them going down.

Baracoa de caveza: los city commissioners for both sides of the tracks voted yesterday to study the possibilities off banning the selling of beef heads within the city limits. It’s just too much to monitor now with that mad cow disease going around said city commissioner Ernest roughneck. “Them boys need to use some other part of that cow for their barbeque.” says Mr. roughneck. A private group called let me put the finger on you will do the study. The results should be done in ten years. La Baracoa was still at $5.50 a lb.

Cheap beer: barrio store owners pulled a fast one this past weekend in which the majority agreed to raise the price on cheap beer but the quality of the beer, remains the same, ended the week at $2.99 a six pack. Barrio consumers are being made aware of this increase. One beer drinker said que now the beer is going up, what could be next?
